The life of Nerds, madly and lovely.

OMG, I love this film. I like the nerd way they talk to each other. I like the idea that unborn children are the real gods, dictating the fates of us poor clueless mortals. And more.... I will go back to watch.

After I have finished watching this film. I find there is a lot that have been told in it. One thing I find resonating with me is the two different kinds of academics the film presents. One kind is presented by Maggie, who know the ethics and discipline of life as well as academy. She cares about others and she cares about students. She does academic research for the sake of human beings and centre studies around ordinary lives. She is the only main leading character in this film and she is found so attractive. The other kind is presented by John and his wife, who are interested in academic research so much that they are only into their own studies and do them for the sake of research or sometimes even fame. They have no balance of their lives as well as their academic engagement. They don't care about other people and they don't really care about students, though academics is perceived as not only diacovering knowledge but sharing and spreading them. They exploit everything and everyone around them to build up their academic achievements. For them, institution or education are only platforms or even tools to sustain their living, but researching is where they put almost all their efforts on. It seems that this is not really a bad thing to judge. But think about ethics. What is the point of academic research if it drifts miles and miles away from real life, but only for the researcher's own personal purpose. Is this the real doctrine the academic wants or has? The problem is: well, I don't know, yet. They exploit everything and everyone around them to build up their academic achievements. The male protagonist was suppressed by his powerful ex-wife at home and communicated with the female protagonist and fell in love with each other. Personally living happily together... The child of the heroine and the hero was actually conceived by the heroine at first, and the heroine began to become interested in the handsome guy who borrowed... This value is also lost!

Classical three-stage, mysterious momentum between men and women, marriage, predictable ending and interesting process. The story is very witty and very sad at the same time, because even with this "totally predictable", there is always loss, anxiety, going around, and going back and forth to each other in the end, which seems like a waste time, but at the same time as if some kind of learning. dad fox *wink*

Maggie's Plan quotes

  • Maggie: Even though I do think you are pretty self-absorbed and extremely needy, that he needs it. It keeps him in balance. It's thinking about you that stops him from only thinking about himself.

  • Maggie: He's basically a psychiatric nurse.
