I don’t know much about the history of Kotov and the Great Purge, but the movie itself is very good. The cold scene at the beginning and the melodious music, from the band zoomed out to the scene where a dancing couple appeared on the camera, and then a naive and lovely little girl appeared in the distance. The tone told me it would be a sad story. Throughout the story, the comic effect, the sun is shining, and the utopian paradise. The plot in front of it was too beautiful and too happy, and everything came to an abrupt end because of the uninvited guest's begging for mercy! This makes the sadness of the ending even deeper, and it makes people unable to ease the sadness of God! After betraying that happy family, betraying that kind and upright person, this traitor will not be able to escape the scorching guilt after all! The background of the story is the famous "Purge" movement in the history of the former Soviet Union, which massacred and oppressed and exiled opposition leaders and even ordinary cadres and masses, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. S Dalin was once known as the "Red Sun", and the ending speech of the film: dedicated to all those who were burned by the scorching sun in the revolution! This is the best and most direct metaphor! Kotov actor Nikita Mikhalkov performed so well, what a father, what a husband, what an officer, what a person! He was kind to the soldiers, helped the people solve problems, was gentle and considerate to his wives, and cared for his daughters kindly. But all of this was lost forever because of being involved in the sport that shouldn't have happened. At the end, the low wailing in the car was heartbreaking! How the little girl's actor was chosen, or how the director made it, is too natural, innocent and cute, and there is no trace of performance at all! The soundtrack of the film, Outomlionnoe Solntce, is melodious and sentimental. It alludes to the sad ending at the beginning of the film, and it also responds before and after the film. The lyrics sung through the mouth of a little girl are also very suggestive: "I was burned by the sun, and the red ocean is gradually drying up. I have heard you say, my dear pigeon, there will be no more love there!" The director used the most. The cheerful rhythm tells us the saddest story!
