Another brick in the wall

Great movie. When I read it, I remembered that Pink Floyd’s Another brick in the wall school always emphasizes discipline and absorbing knowledge. Many children have lost their uniqueness and lacked resistance to authority and secularism in life. From the very beginning, he accepted a model of teaching. The Rock Campus is talking about this kind of resistance. The spirit of rock is not about marijuana and alcohol gambling, but the courage to challenge authority fighting against the man. There are a few characters worth noting here. The principal is a funny girl, but her work and pressure have made her rigorous, rigid, conformist, and uninteresting. The male protagonist is a rock-crazy teenager (maybe middle-aged) and has fans. Of self-confidence. The man’s friend, who has an autocratic girlfriend, gave up the dream of music in order to adapt to the secular world. A child, a fat girl who feels ashamed of herself because of her figure, finds confidence in music. Rock and roll can bring courage, self-confidence, and love, which are gradually lacking in adults and children. This can also explain why people love rock and roll. Those who have long suppressed their own character and ask for the best have been completely released in rock. If people are free and restrained individuals, then rock must have liberated the part of freedom. At the same time, it also makes people reflect, what kind of education do we want? What kind of children are cultivated? If there is no teacher's guidance, there are a few talented teenagers who might not embark on the road of music. This is indeed a waste of talent. Of course, this is to mention waste from the perspective of social development, but everyone has only once in his life. If there was no choice at the time, there would be no chance again.

School of Rock quotes

  • Dewey Finn: [talking to other teachers at lunch] Oh, I was this close to getting the Polish Philharmonic and I nailed the audish, but I didn't get it. Guess who did? Yo-Yo Ma's cousin. Little nepotis! Anyway, I just decided to give up and become a teacher, because those that can't do, teach, and those that can't teach, teach gym.

    [teachers laugh]

  • Dewey Finn: You don't have to worry about me because I'm a hard-ass. And if a kid gets out of line, I got no problem smacking them in the head.
