Named Le prénom (2012)

A French film, it took more than a month to finish it, because the first half of it was too boring Up!

The film tells about a disturbance caused by a family's "name" during a family dinner. After work, a couple entertained their family members. The guests included the adopted children of the host’s wife, the younger brother of the host’s wife, and the younger brother’s wife. The adopted son came first, and the younger brother followed closely, so everyone decided to start eating first instead of waiting for the younger brother and wife. During the meal, everyone talked about the name of his brother's unborn child. Since the brother knew it was a boy, he planned to name the child "Adolf." After hearing this, the others disagreed, so they started a debate. After everyone was tired of arguing, the adopted son discovered through a book that his younger brother was actually joking, just to fool the master of being a French professor. When eating again, the younger brother’s wife arrived, but the host was still entangled in the name and furious. This made the younger brother’s wife angry, saying that the names of the host’s two children were actually not good. At this time, the scene became awkward, and my brother had to tell the truth: it was just a joke. In the cold scene, everyone talked about the brother's habitual "ghost face". This topic caused everyone to laugh, and the atmosphere eased. Next, the owner talked about killing a dog in his childhood, which caused everyone to argue again. Subsequently, everyone thought that the owner was a miser and the adopted son was a homosexual. In order to prove that he is not gay, the adopted son told him his secret-in fact, he has been dating the mother of his master's wife. Everyone was surprised when they heard it, and then the adopted son told the story of falling in love with their mother. After listening, the younger brother beat the adopted son, which caused the master's wife to break out. After venting her grievances, she left the messy room for others to clean up, and went to sleep by herself. In this way, everyone left one after another, only the younger brother stayed, reflecting on his behavior. In the end, everyone is still as close as a family, waiting for the birth of the younger brother and child. Surprisingly, the younger brother’s child was not a son but a daughter, so the names they thought of were useless.

This is a purely "talkative" film, which uses dialogue to unfold the plot, which is quite unique at first glance. But I have watched a lot of similar movies, so I didn't feel it was new. However, from the overall point of view of the film, it is still a film worthy of appreciation. After all, such a film is a test of the actors' acting skills and screenwriting skills. It's just that this film has a big disadvantage, that is, as I said before, the first half of the plot is very boring, unattractive, and easy to get bored. If the film can be as obvious as the dramatic conflict in the second half of the film, I would not have watched it in more than a month. The directors should really think about it: What's the point of discussing "Adolf" in nearly forty minutes?

The theme of the movie is very simple, it is to show the real situation of the French family and an inevitable phenomenon of social life-everyone has a secret. Of course, the theme of this film can also be considered a gimmick. How can so many things happen before and after a dinner? As for the content of the film performance, in my opinion, they are all accustomed to routines, such as wife’s dissatisfaction, old cows eating tender grass, accusing each other of each other’s shortcomings, etc., which are quite satisfactory. In addition, the end of the film also exaggerated the greatness and solidity of family love, which is even more clichéd. Therefore, although the film shows some common contradictions in the family, it is very mediocre and cannot be thought-provoking. The inside of the film is very ordinary.

Even so, but overall, the movie is still good-looking. The plot of the movie keeps reversing and the character's character gradually becomes clear, which is still very entertaining. In fact, this is also one of the key points of the film, that is, it creates characters with distinctive personalities. It's just that these characters are real in the real world, and we will understand them even if we don't watch movies.

Movie shooting is even more satisfactory. After all, this is a story told in a limited space, and there will be no gorgeous pictures or unique image styles. In this film, there are only close-ups of the characters with different expressions, which can't be more ordinary. So, no need to say more.

The actors in this film are brilliant. There are only five main actors, but the five actors perform the plot and characters perfectly! Every actor in the film has impressive places and moments of acting skills, which makes every character full of its own unique charm! It is not easy for a movie to do this, and it is worthy of praise. The two women in this film, Valérie Benguigui and Judith El Zein, are not pretty, but women with a little good-looking features. Why did you choose them, don’t French women have any more beautiful women? Perhaps it is because only these two people fit the image of a middle-aged woman?

in conclusion. A good-looking and funny French comedy with a clichéd plot, but the characterization is still successful, it is still worth watching.
