ลุง บุญ มี ระลึก ชาติ (2010)
recently read 2011's new film , After watching the Oscar-winning films and watching the films in IMDB250, then come to see the award-winning films of the World Art Film Awards-Palme d’Or. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival.
The film tells the story of a family member sending the death to a sick man. The hero is a farmer who is terminally ill and is taken care of by a young man from Laos. The protagonist’s sister-in-law and the boy came to visit him and lived on the farm. In the evening, when the three of them ate, the actor's dead wife and his ape son came back to see him one after another, and everyone chatted about the past happily. The next day, the sister-in-law and the hero were strolling around the farm and learned that the young people from Laos were leaving. Then, in his sleep, the boy seemed to see a catfish having a relationship with the princess. In the evening, the actor knew that the time had come, so he led the sister-in-law and the boy to a cave shaped like a womb, and talked nonsense about the future and the past in the cave. Early the next morning, the actor left. According to Thai tradition, the boy became a monk, but he couldn't bear loneliness and returned to his sister-in-law. Finally, the sister-in-law and the boy came to the tavern to eat as real clones.
A few days ago, I just watched the Palme d’Or award-winning work "Tree of Life" at the 64th Cannes Film Festival, which gave me a sense of the taste of Palme d’Or. But after watching the film, I realized that I underestimated how "puzzling" the film is. For me, this is a film that is even more alternative than "The Tree of Life", with a slow rhythm, a scattered structure, and a mess of gods and ghosts, religious elements, and so on. The most important thing is that it does not have a unified theme. After watching the film, I don't know what the director wants to express. In short, in a nutshell, this film is not a movie suitable for anyone to enjoy, but a product of overly self-directed production.
When I face a movie that I can’t understand, the first thing I think of is that I have little knowledge, little knowledge, and no ability to comprehend. So I will look for relevant reviews on the Internet to see how other people think of it. For this film, I did the same. However, after reading many comments on the Internet, I realized that this film is a well-known work. Because every article on the Internet has a point of view, but everyone’s point of view is different, which makes this film very weird. A good film should allow everyone to think in one direction, pointing to what the director thinks, thinks, and does. However, this film allows everyone to have their own opinions and everyone has their own ideas, which happens to be a manifestation of "over interpretation". For this film, many people think that it has won an award, so there should be good points, so people began to rack their brains to think about how good the film is, and try hard to figure out the idea of the director. . As everyone knows, what people think is not what the director wants to express, and they don't mean it at all! Everyone is guessing what the choreographer thinks, so there will be a phenomenon of one person with one point of view. This is not the feeling that a normal good movie brings to the audience. So my point of view is to dare to question the movie, regardless of the award-winning film or the work of that well-known director. Don’t say anything about it. People say it’s good. Should have its own point of view!
Watching this movie with the above thoughts, it just tells the story of a ghost sending the end, and some thoughts of reincarnation are interspersed in the process of sending the end, nothing more. According to the actor's thoughts, he died in a hole shaped like a womb, so he returned to the womb and returned to the place where his life began. Contacting the "Princess Story" in the middle of the film, you can know that the actor's previous life was a catfish and a talking catfish. This is the "Uncle Bumi's Past and Present" that the movie wants to show. As for ghosts, everything exists around the actor from beginning to end, such as a dead wife, a missing son, and even the sister-in-law and the boy after the actor's death. Some nonsense about the past and the future that the actor tells is nothing but a political metaphor for the director. It can be seen that the uniqueness of this film is that it shows the Thai people's identification with ghosts and the display of reincarnation in the world.
Since this film is like this, it is not a good film. According to the time when the film was awarded and the interviews with some judges, it can be seen that this film is very unique in the eyes of Westerners, because they have not seen such a real "ghost film", such as the dignified representation of ghosts as real people. In addition, the concept of reincarnation is also new to Westerners. In their religion, the dead will not survive. The above two aspects are the two factors for the film's award. The biggest reason for the film's award is the political factor mentioned by many people. I won't say much about this. There are a lot of news on the Internet. In other words, this film is unique and avant-garde in the eyes of Western filmmakers, and of course awards will be given to it. In summary, it can be seen that the film won the Palme d’Or not because of how good the film is, but because of the meaning beyond the film. That being the case, it's ridiculous when you think of everyone's praise for this film!
Other aspects of the film are mediocre, only the idyllic scenery of Thailand is worth seeing. However, the film did not modify the picture too much, so the beauty of the film is just a natural beauty, and it will not give people a deep impression. In addition, the film also uses a lot of fixed lenses and mid-to-distance scenes, which makes the film look very dull! This also made me fall asleep more than ten times while watching the movie. Don’t the choreographer know how to attract the audience? It's unreasonable that such a movie can win the Palme d'Or! Therefore, from the perspective of filming, it is not an exaggeration to say that it is a bad film.
The actors in this film left me speechless. None of the men and women are eye-catching. There are even a few characters that can be described as "ugly"! The overall level of Thai people's appearance is too bad! Not to mention the acting skills of the actors. Everyone’s performances are fake, they look like extras, which are terrible.
in conclusion. This film is a very ordinary mediocre work, even if it wins the Palme d'Or, it can't prove that the film is really good. After watching this film, I always regret it!
