The French film avant-garde movement has experienced successively from impressionist films, Dadaist films, surrealist films, and social documentary school. I think that the social documentary school is a master who has absorbed and discarded the pros and cons of the various genres of the European film avant-garde movement.
Film editing is very mature from drama to composition photography. I like the two scenes very much, the underwater photography of the captain diving after the phonograph plays music. A cross-montage dissolving shot that shows that two people are lonely.
