Because of Monica's pregnancy, they had to return to their hometown to rent a house to get married and have children. Harry was a very responsible man. He started to study according to his own ideas, worked hard to make money, and planned his future life. During this period, they were more struggling in life. Monica can't stand this life of having children at home every day. She hopes to wear beautiful clothes, go to the movies, dance, and feel the ambiguous gaze of men; so she started with her former lover as she thought. After being in love, Harry found out, and the two quarreled fiercely. Monica left the child and left. Harry took the child to sell the furniture and returned to his father's house.
This is Bergman’s 53-year film, and today is not exactly the same story being staged. Young and frivolous! If you encounter it, no matter what the consequences are, let's talk about it first, if it's not for having a child, it's just an inappropriate relationship. In fact, Monica is quite smart, just like a selfish person can judge the best choice for her. She has dated many men, but she thinks Harry is the best. Harry is innocent, and of course a boy who is in love with a girl like Monica can't escape, although in the eyes of the middle-aged, it is "that bitch in the vegetable shop".
I happened to watch Bergman's "Virgin Spring" today, and felt that the two films have one thing in common that can be commented on at the same time. One of the lines is "The devil likes to seduce innocent people." "Virgin Spring" should be seen by parents with daughters, and "Monica" should be seen by parents with sons. Bergman is warning the world that human nature, society, and life are never pure and insistent. To go head-to-head in a simple way will pay the price of life (such as Harry), or the price of life (such as Karin).
Monica is selfish and wild. For her, the world is what I want. She hopes to get everything she wants, and this is not pure. What should she do when she discovers that life is not something she can control? But as smart as her, I think she should be better than Harry's experience. Such a person always knows where to find the most benefiting one. It's the fact that Harry has suffered relentless and destructive injuries, and all his efforts are worthless. What kind of cleverness and luck does he need to live better again?
Human nature is inherently good and evil, and everyone must be prepared before setting off.
PS: On the train where Harry went to work in Stockholm, one of his companions, who was the circus owner of "Clown Night", came to make a cameo appearance.
The heroine, Hollier, played many of Bergman’s films. The ones I have watched include "Summer Night’s Smile", "Still in the Mirror", "Clown’s Night", etc. The acting skills are good, especially "Still in the Mirror". The performance of "中" is completely different from the other ones.
