Faith is alive

After finishing work in the evening, I watched a movie, "Face the Giant". I downloaded this film before, but I just gave up after watching the beginning. I rewatched it today. It turned out to be filmed by the company that made "The Fireman". Moreover, watching the introduction, it was filmed by a group of Baptist brothers and sisters, and the most unprofessional filmmakers. From the point of view of shooting and acting, it is not outstanding, but I still scored full marks for this film, because of its connotation, because the touch, inspiration, and power it gave me came from the power of God.

The beginning of the film shows the failed life of a coach of a high school football team. Repeated battles and defeats, excellent players transferred to schools, some people want to drive him out of the team, the house is in disrepair for a long time, driving a classic car that broke down at any time, his wife wants a child, check it out that he has a problem. It's really unlucky for people to have teeth in cold water. What will happen to a person when he is embarrassed on all sides?

Taylor is a man of faith. After crying bitterly, he went to the Bible to seek answers. Early in the morning he went to the woods and prayed alone, "Lord, you are my God. If you don’t give me a child, I will recognize it. How do you use me? If you have other intentions, please give me a revelation. ." This kind of prayer, every Christian will do. When we encounter difficulties and setbacks in our lives, we often seek in this way.

There is a devout man in the school. He often touched the student lockers and prayed for each student. This morning he walked into Coach Taylor’s office and said to him with the verses from Chapter 3 of Revelation, “You have a little bit of strength and you have obeyed my way. You have not rejected my name. Look! I’m here for you. There is an open door in front of you, which no one can close." The revelation Taylor wanted, God just communicated to him. It sounds unbelievable, but, I know, this is God’s way of doing things, and he often does it in the Bible. He would use various methods to raise up a person.

Taylor didn't know what he could do. This is a losing team, and the hearts of the people are scattered. But the devout man told a story. Two farmers begged for rain, and only one went to the field to make preparations. Which one do you think is a person who truly believes in God? This story is also a truth that I have come to understand. True faith will bring out acts of faith. If I say faith, but my behavior is not faith, then my faith is false.

Taylor began to prepare for the "heavy rain" given by the gods. He rethinks what the meaning of the team is. The meaning of the team is not to win, but to do everything possible to glorify God. Taylor began to lead his players with this belief. What he cares about is no longer the winning or losing of the game, but how to bring out a team that glorifies God. Whether you win or lose, you must do your best to live for Christ. This is really a living faith. he's changed. Finding the source of the smell at home, caring about the players' ideology on the court, helping the players know how to obey God's commandments, respecting their parents, everything is different.

Impressively, Captain Bullock said, we can't. Taylor asked him to climb 50 yards with his teammates on his back, and he said, I can't do it. Taylor asked him to do his best. Then, blindfolded his eyes, shouted loudly, step by step motivating him forward. When Bullock fell exhausted, he had climbed the entire court and came to the bottom line. I think that lesson must be very profound for Brock. We are often limited by our own fears, but we don't know, only God knows where our bottom line is.

Taylor taught the player Matt to respect his father. Matt did not accept this belief at first, and Taylor did not force it. But when the Holy Spirit began to work, Matt and the other players confessed their sins to each other, repented and turned to God, and the whole school began a revival. The camera flashed back, and the pious teacher stroked the lockers one by one, praying for these students, asking the Lord to raise up a generation of people who believe in him. This prayer did not fail. Matt went to apologize to his father. This successful man was in a meeting. His business partner said, "If I can, I am willing to cut off my right arm and change what my son said to me." A person's change brings about The change in the relationship around him, such a change, also affects other people.

To Coach Taylor's surprise, this change also brought him a gift. His classic car was gone and replaced by a new one. Someone left a message saying, "You meet our needs, please let us meet your needs." When Tyler shed tears, I was moved to tears too, Lord, I know that this is how you take care of those who love you, they There is no shortage of benefits. You care about us, you really care about us. (In the distance is Matt's father, who is also touched, smiling to his son, don't tell anyone else.)

There is also a kid, newly enrolled David. Seeing his name, I think there must be a play on him. David faced Goliath with a small victory over the big. This David likes soccer and is a layman for American football. His father encouraged him to join the team. He has been lacking in confidence. If I didn't kick, I felt that I couldn't get in. Taylor's assistant coach, the black man, actually used the scriptures of wide and narrow goals to train him to kick in the middle of the goal, which is a bit funny. However, seeing these people really use scriptures to live their lives, I feel really cordial.

In this way, a changed coach, a changed team, will undoubtedly lose, and enter the rematch every game. However, the first game of the rematch was lost. Taylor is sad, they work so hard, he hopes to make the team win a game. As a result, the team they were playing against was disqualified due to fraud and they re-entered the game. In the end, he made it to the final. The opponent is the Giants with three times more numbers than them. This is really a duel between Goliath and David. At the end of the fight, the tired players, under the shouting of the coach, tried their best to fight for the glory of God. They did it. They won a chance to score in the last two seconds. The little David comes on the field, his task is to kick 51 yards, still up the wind. He has no confidence. The coach was praying and asked the other side to call a timeout, and the other side's coach really called. Taylor told David again, "Do you believe that if God wants you to score, he can do it?" David said, "If he wants to, of course he can." "Then you do your best to get the result. Leave it to God." David's disabled father, in order to encourage his son, stood up straight, and the person next to him wanted to help him, he said, "Don't touch me, I stood up for my son."

David looked at the goal. God, please help me kick this ball." The national flag fluttered high and the wind turned. The coach yelled, "Now, now." David took a long shot, the ball was thrown high, and entered the goal without any suspense. They won the state championship by one point.

Back in the lounge, Taylor asked everyone, "Is there anything God can't do?" Every player said "No." "I hope you will remember this moment in your life from now on."

When we are with God When together, anything is possible.

Taylor's wife has better news to tell him. "You just joined the dad team."

There were also small twists and turns in her inspection. First, it was vomiting and discomfort, but because of several false information, I was embarrassed to go again, and the husband also said that the problem was with him. What about this time? The medical staff told her apologetically that it was not. Then she came out and stood by the car, with the sun shining on her face, "Lord, I still love you." My tears also shed. Yes, even if what I hope for the most is not fulfilled, Lord, I still love you.

But, dear Lord, you often test our faith in this way, and you have prepared something better for us. The medical staff found that they had made a mistake, and then ran out to correct it. I saw her disbelief, excitement, hug, and I was as happy as her. Because the Lord Jehovah cares about us.

This is a movie that shows lively confidence. Although some parts may be slightly immature, but the foundation and connotation are simple and touching. Many well-conceived and superb acting films give me only sensory satisfaction. But the touch and inspiration that "Face the Giant" gave me was in my spirit and faith. Thank the Lord for his grace for giving such a good movie and such a lively life of faith to strengthen us. May God bless these brothers and sisters, make more and better films, inspire more people, and give glory to his name.

Facing the Giants quotes

  • Grant Taylor: I want God to bless this team so much people will talk about what He did. But it means we gotta give Him our best in every area. And if we win, we praise Him. And if we lose, we praise Him. Either way we honor Him with our actions and our attitudes. So I'm askin' you... What are you living for? I resolve to give God everything I've got, then I'll leave the results up to Him. I want to know if you'll join me.

  • Grant Taylor: With God, nothing is impossible.
