"Death Illusion 2" is known as a tribute work. And the characters who directly use the previous work, of course, are even more sincere to the original creator Richard.
At the same time, the sequel director Keith Fraser also has some innovations, the most obvious of course is the visual change of the protagonist. The protagonist of the first episode is Downey, and his identity is a living receiver, so his performance in the film focuses on how he struggles in a series of sufferings brought to him by the dead and living controllers. The protagonist of the sequel is Downey's young sister Sam and her best friend Corey. Sam is the death control body, will actively influence and drive the living recipient Justin's choice to self-sacrifice; Corey's role is more intriguing, she is both the living recipient and the living control body. To explain this, we must start with the second innovation of the sequel-the description of the offline universe.
The entire first episode is about what happened in the offline universe, and it didn't return to the original universe until the end of the credit; the sequel describes the situation of two offline universes in a layered manner, and the three universes are actually very complicated. Everything that happened before Sam's death belongs to the category of the first offline universe. In this universe Sam plays the role of death controller, Corey and others are living controllers, and the holy objects are meteorites; Sam His death occurred in the second offline universe. This offline universe is actually the offline universe of the first offline universe. Corey became the living recipient, and the missing boy Billy was the dead controller. He led Corey back to the first An offline universe made a new choice not to let Sam die. Corey used his own death to solve the problem that suddenly appeared in the relic car; after Corey died, the first offline universe continued to operate normally, and Sam continued to complete her death. 1. Some people infer that the living recipient may have experienced multiple offline universe experiences before admitting their mission. I have certain reservations about this. According to the "Time Travel Upanishads", the offline universe itself is "extremely unstable" and "can only last for a few weeks." It is logically impossible to allow living recipients to experiment in the offline universe indefinitely. The key is that the offline universe itself should also be monolinear. Otherwise, if parallel offline universes can be derived in parallel, an offline universe will have collapsed and some are still developing. Then the original universe has long been Annihilated.
2. The principle that the living recipient saves the world. The death of the living recipient is a so-called process of "returning the sacred object to the position of the original universe". And how to send it back, this is the unsolved puzzle of the film. In short, the accused tried every means to make the living recipient take the lead. Since it is impossible for the offline universe to be parallel, the enlightenment of the living recipient in the offline universe can only be successful without fail. The so-called backward time is not going back to the starting point of the offline universe, but returning to the moment when the sacred object appeared in the original universe. . When the living recipient is attacked to death by the sacred object, the original universe and the offline universe are reintegrated, history changes, and everything that has happened in the offline universe becomes nothingness, so the original universe regains its uniqueness.
3. The source of sacred objects. I personally believe that the holy relic appeared in the offline universe. When the turbulence caused the offline universe to split up, the offline universe operated in the same composition as the original universe, and the same events occurred. It wasn't until the holy relic appeared that the development direction of the two universes began to diverge. But the disagreement is just an episode to save the universe. After the living recipient dies as planned, the universe will continue to follow the path of the original universe. The holy thing does not necessarily come from the offline universe (that is, the engine of the first episode is not necessarily the engine that crashed in the offline universe, because the source of the meteorite in the sequel is not explained in the offline universe), as long as it meets the "violation of causality" Logic" means that it does not know where it comes from.
