Beethoven’s late works in the film brought me into the world of modernism

Although everyone has mixed opinions on the film, I still think it was a pretty good shot, at least not conventional.

The film uses Beethoven’s late quartet works. I didn’t know much about his late works at the time. I watched the film, especially in the early part of the big fugue. Beethoven, I was immediately caught by these works!

The greatness of Beethoven is that a composer in the early nineteenth century actually wrote the music of the twentieth century!

So, following the Grand Fugue, I began to listen to Beethoven's other late quartets, and began to listen to the Bartok Quartet (because he and Beethoven were considered the gems of the quartet), and then I began to pay attention to the entire modern music school. Now he has become a true fan of modernist music.

Copying Beethoven quotes

  • Ludwig van Beethoven: The vibrations on the air are the breath of God speaking to man's soul. Music is the language of God. We musicians are as close to God as man can be. We hear his voice, we read his lips, we give birth to the children of God, who sing his praise. That's what musicians are.

  • Ludwig van Beethoven: Schlemmer. I've arranged for Krenski to send him some pickled carp.

Ludwig van Beethoven: That will put him back in the pink.

Karl van Beethoven: He's got cancer.
