I spent two weekends watching the movie Gettysburg and the Gods and Generals in the United States with respect. Although it was built by the same team, there are big differences in style.

Gettysburg is a realistic description of a key battle. All the characters on the scene are developed and performed around the course of the battle. It can be said to be an orthodox war movie. The background and process of each local battle are also clearly explained. . For lovers of war movies, it may be more enjoyable.

The gods and generals is a great biography of General Stonewall Jackson, which used the first half of the Civil War as the background board, with more religious beliefs and value choices in the middle. There are a lot of plots to show this devout Christian general's thinking about war and his understanding of religion. There is no doubt that the director did not put his pen and ink completely on the war scenes. The love between Jackson and his wife, the interaction with the little girl, and the crying for it are all very moving.

It’s interesting to note that when Americans look at the Civil War, they do not judge heroes in terms of victory or defeat, nor do they simply describe it as justice defeating evil. It is obvious that the Southern Army has gained more emotional tilt.

Both films are also very good at restoring history, and both sides are still strictly implementing line tactics. However, it can be seen from the film that the breech gun has been used on a large scale, and the shooting accuracy is not low. Therefore, the invincible queue shooting tactics that have dominated the world's military history for more than 200 years will eventually come to an end. One word to evaluate two Civil War movies is enjoyable.
