Where there is love, there is hope Infinitely Polar Bear 7/31/2021
"Infinitely Polar Bear" is literally translated into "Forever Polar Bear", without giving the theme of the movie. It comes from a line "my dad is totally a polar bear" in the mouth of the children, a little childish, romantic, and a little sad to confess his father's bipolar depression. That momentary tension and embarrassment was quickly broken by the children’s "my uncle has it too", which made people a little relieved and more worried-individuals and families living in the shadow of such diseases, It's not just the family in the movie center.
The father on the sunny side knows everything, romantic, curious, childish, enthusiastic, and unruly, giving the children a lot of laughter and surprises. The camera that hangs around his neck records many such clips. On the dark side, he will suddenly lose control of his emotions and his mouth will be full of dirty words. No matter who it is, even the panicked wife and daughter may be hurt by him. He maintains a certain unpredictable balance by taking medicine and drinking. Without a job, his family is struggling on the poverty line, and his grandmother who has old money supports him.
But this is by no means a family that easily admit defeat. They do everything for their children's education. The mother cruelly left a pair of young daughters to go to school in order to bring financial stability to the family, while the father, who could not take care of him, reluctantly assumed the responsibility of taking care of the daughter. In the past 18 months, there were laughter and tears. The growth of the father and the children and the attachment to each other were just as visible to the naked eye as the living room went from a mess to an orderly and charming living room. There are many places that people can't help but laugh, about the sponge's quarrel, swaggering to see the grandeur of the ancestor's house, and the grievances of the children staring at the car without the floor.
There are also some reactions to discrimination against women and blacks in the film. There is not much ink, but it is just right. My mother said that white people who do not mix well to live in low-rent housing will be considered eccentric by society, while black people in the same situation have no understanding or tolerance. This is indeed the case. Imagine whether it is Chris McCandless in "Into the Wild" , Or the vandwellers in "Nomadland" who are more marginalized in society, if they are black people, how much resistance will they encounter, and there will be fewer sympathy angles in the reporter's report.
The final ending is reminiscent of "Kramer vs Kramer". The mother's dilemma and the two holding hands and crying make people sad. Although the difficult days will continue, and although the shadow of the disease has not dissipated, we can realize that the children are sensible and that this family has love and hope.
