The story takes place in central Italy, Tuscany. Italy is not only the "Axis Power" of the Fascist Alliance-the origin of war, but also the center of European art, integrating sculptures, paintings and other humanities and arts.

Lady Hester is an arrogant old lady. She has to emphasize that her husband is the former British ambassador to Italy. She herself had afternoon tea with Mussolini, and the pictures of those who carried the afternoon tea were everywhere. Since his son died in the war, in order to keep the family name, he made his grandson dressed as a woman to protect him.

Lady Mary is an Italian who has never married for her life. Her father and fiancé died in the war. As the secretary of Luca's father, he was dissatisfied with his father's indifference to his illegitimate son Luca, and chose to personally raise Luca into the gentlemen his father expected.

Elsa, an American who lives in Italy, is a wealthy dancer. On the surface, he is very sociable and obsessed with cocktail parties. In fact, he is a generous collector of flesh and blood. When the old ladies of the "Scorpion Gang" were collectively collected into the tower city of San Gimignano, they silently guarded them and paid them to enjoy a more comfortable hotel environment.

Arballa, who loves art as life, has a dog that never leaves her body. She herself has been working hard to restore frescoes and protect artistic relics. Even when the Italian army tried to blow up the Collegiate Church before retreating, they wrapped a lead rope around the body to stop the evil deeds.

The ups and downs of World War II and the sudden complexity of the situation in Europe, the life journey of the little boy Luca and this group of old ladies, who are also teachers and friends, runs through the whole story. As movie viewers, seeing old ladies who have money, leisure and status, go to the Uffizi Gallery to drink tea, appreciate paintings, and make copies every day. There is nothing else but the envy of freshmen.

Some passages are actually quite heavy, and a biased character.

Rome and the Renaissance in Italy deeply influenced European civilization, and the remaining wind benefited the United Kingdom, which in turn was the home country of the United States. The Americans, British, and Italians were noisy together, and they fought well...The war of war was a grand but low-key background, which set off a group of distinguished ladies' afternoon tea. The same thing that cannot be beaten is literature and art, the eternal truth, goodness, and beauty. Hitler's and Mussolini's tanks and bombs were also immovable.
