I watched this movie again today.
After paying attention to all the details, some conversations that originally seemed meaningless actually revealed clues.
Personally, I feel that the principal kidnapped the little girl not because of pedophilia, but just wanted to do a "shattering" thing to show his energy.
Sorted out the relevant plot:
1) When the male protagonist went to the principal because of Chen's case, the principal said, "The children don't know how to respect authority" (I forgot the original words, but it probably meant this)
2) In the conversation between the principal and the male lead before his death, he said that Gracie liked to go to his office to show off his clothes. This behavior obviously made the principal feel that his authority was challenged.
3) After the principal took out the dagger, the male protagonist said "I'm not afraid of you", and the principal reluctantly said "Nobody is afraid of me". In the previous conversation, he also said that he felt that he and the male protagonist were in town. The above are not taken seriously. . .
4) Before piercing the dagger into his chest, the principal said "Let everyone see us"
In summary, I personally feel that the principal's psychology is indeed distorted. The outside world may not disrespect him, but he just feels that he is underestimated. His purpose in kidnapping that little girl was just like what he said last-to let people know that he could do some earth-shattering things.
I also noticed a detail: when Caroline finally appeared in the male lead’s office, she changed her hair style, and her dressing style is no longer the same as that of the girl next door. She looks more mature. Maybe this is the real her. . . .
