One of the most watched films in Europe in recent years, "Franz", "Franz" is a feature film produced by French TV Station 4 and directed by French director François Au Jong. French actor Pierre Niss played the leading role Adrian, while the German actress Paula Beer played the leading role Anna. The film tells the story of the relationship between the male protagonist Adrian who came to Germany from France and Franz's family and Anna because of his inner dispute after participating in the First World War.
Adrian was an intruder in Anna's life from the beginning.
Adrian hides a cruel truth in his heart, which is in stark contrast with the French romantic, tender and kind-hearted side of his inherent French boy.
Anna's open-minded and redemptive approach dissolves the family and country hatred between the opposing male protagonist Adrian and the family of the dead fiancé.
The contrast is also in the tavern under the hotel. The Germans disrespect Adrian in the German tavern. The French stood up in the French tavern and sang "Marseille" for the children killed and wounded in the war. Anna was there.
The war brings endless pain to the living. Whether it is a German or a French, whether it is the enemy or ours, the father's son is lost.
The actor cannot face the dead Franz and his family.
The relationship between Adrian and Anna is destined to be painted with special symbols and cannot be together.
Contrast is also a "lie", and the flames of friction between the hero and the heroine are subtle and mysterious. Adrian hopes for forgiveness from her "lie", and Anna finally finds salvation from her "lie".
The rendering of the relationship and emotions of the characters in the film is excellent. Whether it is the relationship with Franz's family, the relationship between the hero and the heroine, etc., it is worth savoring carefully.
Appreciate the elegant aesthetics of French director Ou Jong, the alternation of black and white and color.
The feeling after watching is different from watching the war film. The mood is a bit complicated. With the ignorance of the oil painting "Suicide" (Author: Manet) that appeared in the Louvre in the film, I added reading materials. Chen Pingxuan wrote in "All Those, Faith in Love and Art":
"Because putting down the gun and picking up the violin is a kind of suicide, and abandoning debate and choosing poetry is also a kind of suicide. In this world full of conflicts and threats, it is often a suicidal act to abandon self-defense and choose to open your mind." )
"This is the cry in "Franz"...abandon violence and hatred, and let love and art return color to life and the world." (Refer to Figure 1)
I now think of Anna who committed suicide by the river in the film. When she was rescued by a kind-hearted person, the kind-hearted person said:
"Isn't enough people killed in the war in the past few years?"
This sentence is like a warning to the world. When we remember history and the damage caused by war, we should understand the truth of cherishing life, obtaining salvation through forgiveness, and cherishing the hard-won peace of today. 1918.11.11~2018.11.11 Do you remember the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War? #World Peace
