Don't be deceived by this topic. Today I am not going to talk about Arthur and his sword stuck in a stone.
Today we will talk about Mamoru Oshii, virtual worlds and cyberpunk movies.
Not long after I first came to Japan, I learned about the novel "AVALON-The Grey Lady" written by Oshii himself. If you look at the publication date, it is the same year as the movie. I don't know which side is earlier. It is also possible that Oshii published a book with the movie only for pure hype...
But even though I have known it for several years, I actually started this book only two or three months ago. And now it's still not reading.
I stayed up all night to watch the movie.
First of all, I want to say that the yellowish old photos look beautiful. The movie was filmed in Poland. Whether it is the buildings and trams with the colors of the 1950s, or the scenes of the players eating a big pot of rice, there is a sense of nostalgia that is discordant. Obviously it is a high-tech era, but the street scenery, people's costumes and the props used are exactly the same as before the second industrial revolution. I wonder if the director wants to be satirical?
The second is about Bajido. I haven't checked whether Oshii has such a dog in his own family, but it is obvious that he has a preference for this kind of dog. In "Conquer the Mobile Squad-Innocence", the protagonist Barto also raises such a one. In the scenes of the protagonist coming home, the dog welcomes the owner, giving the dog food, and the dog eating hard, there is almost no difference in the shooting angle of the two works. Moreover, Oshii pays special attention to the scenes of the two protagonists carefully preparing dinner for the dogs. As if the importance of physical existence is far less important than the importance of spiritual existence in the age of Cyber, this is the only place that can show a little human touch-but on the contrary, it is also cruel: "Even dogs eat better than people. "(Bator is a prosthetic body, it’s a different matter if you don’t eat)
The more interesting thing is that in "AVALON", Ash carefully cooked a meal for the dog, but found that the dog disappeared. Although there is no such a paragraph in the animated version of "Innocent", but in the novel version of "Innocent" written by Yamada Great God, there is almost the same structure: Barto finally ran all the way to buy Gabriel Er’s favorite dog food was attacked halfway through, and came back with a wound. It was found that the dog was gone... But in "AVALON", the dog that ran away did not come back. This is the same as "Innocent" The ending is decisively different.
The storyboard has an animated feel. Especially for the section where the tram drove, it was repeated three times, which is simply an economical way to make cartoons. The heroine Ash also has the face and feeling of element. It's a pity that the leading actor-is there a leading actor? In short, a few male characters are not very handsome.
The most touching shot is when Ash finally came to the SA level, wearing a sexy black evening dress, holding the only small pistol, and beginning to venture in this strange world that he can never go back to unless he completes the task. When she opened the door, what appeared in front of her was the colorful city scenery of the beginning of the 21st century. The endless streets, bright red Coca-Cola advertisements, speeding vehicles, and vibrant faces are in sharp contrast to the old photo-colored world-and this makes our heroine stunned. If you know that the official name of the SA level is Stage Real, then you will be surprised at this hypothesis for a moment: which one is the virtual world? Which one is reality?
Murphy said this is reality. The SA-level task is to defeat unreturned players who have never been back to this world before. When Ash and Murphy pointed their pistols at each other, Murphy told her that even if they were killed in this world, their bodies would not disappear. The one left will know.
But, in fact, when he was hit and fell into that unreal pool of blood and said a bunch of sloppy last words, his body melted into the air as a number. And as an audience, I am also confused at this moment-after all, is this reality? Reality, which world is it?
So the story ended irresponsibly in the words Welcome to Avalon. So, I finally decided that the novel should not be unsuccessful-I followed Oshii's Daoer! Although it may be like the messy and irresponsible work of "Angel's Egg", it is completely incomprehensible, but it seems that this is not a test film. In view of the fact that the AVALON game system adopts the RPG profession I like, that is, it is divided into: fighter/thief/mage (the DL world without herd...), and there is a GM, so I still love the film very much. Especially when they encountered the Scarlet Fortress (the subsequent event), the expression on the mage's face was as if they had met an adult dragon. It was awesome!
But I was curious, what exactly was a wizard used for in World War II-style RPG games?
The last thought is that listening to Polish and watching English subtitles is very tiring. As a Japanese movie, why is there no Japanese dubbing...- -#
