Time and time again, I told myself how lucky I am to fall in love with you.
Time and time again, I told myself how lucky I am to meet you.

You just said that you still remember those two stars that belonged to us.
In an instant, my tears dropped, on the street where I met again.

"Night" is adapted from the novel of the same name by the female writer Susan Mino. The exquisite text depicts a woman's ordinary life, a man she has loved so deeply, an indelible time in her heart, and her dying Memories of the journey. This is a typical female story, which unfolds around the topics of ordinary women's life, love and children. Therefore, the novel attracted a large number of female readers and became a very popular best-selling novel.

Literary works have always been the best nursery for film works, so literary adaptations of film works, especially those mainly based on literary novels, are generally characterized by beautiful lines. "Night" is no exception. Although in 117 minutes, all the characters in the original novel cannot be completely put on the big screen, the classic and beautiful texts in the novel can be presented in the film in the form of lines. . Of course, the beautiful literary lines will be a little stiff to say, but they enhance the elegance of the film.

"Night" is a typical love film, a typical film focusing on female emotions, and a literary film with beautiful pictures and elegant style. Although compared with the same theme of "The Moments", "Night" is obviously not deep enough in the exploration of human nature's meaning of life, and even slightly thin in storytelling and character creation, but it does not hinder the audience, especially the female audience. The characters in the story resonate and are moved.
The beautiful and oil-like picture of this film comes from the director of the film, Jolas Cote, who was once a photographer who was nominated for Best Photography at an Oscar. The cast is also very strong, with Golden Globe winner Claire Dennis and Oscar nominated Toni Collett. The adaptation of the screenplay was performed by Mike Cunningham, who had adapted "The Moment". These regulars and stars at the Oscar Golden Globes made "Nightfall" an obvious attempt to enter the next Oscar, and also made it the first Oscar's ambition to be released in the middle of this year.

Indeed, the themes and themes of this film are very suitable for Oscars. The victory of "The Moment" proves that films dominated by female subjects have always been favored by the Oscar judges. However, if the audience reports this mentality to watch the film, they will be disappointed. The themes are not deep enough, the characters are not full enough, and the story narrative gives people a sense of ecstasy, making the film only elegant in style, but not enough to be impressive.

Therefore, it is better to taste "Night" as a cup of hot milk before going to bed. There is no intriguing taste of coffee, and no sweet and intoxicating wine, but it is a work of warmth that can warm the soul. Although in the audience, the film is destined to only attract female audiences, not male audiences. Whether it is a female audience over half a hundred years old or a female audience in the middle-to-young segment, they will definitely be able to find a genre that resembles themselves from the women in the film, and they will definitely be moved by their stories.

The story begins with a mother who is about to come to the end of her life, accompanied by her two middle-aged daughters. Perhaps because of the effects of drugs, or perhaps because she knew that she was near the end of her life, this woman, who had been described as haggard, recalled the time with her last strength. The names of the two men kept coming from the old man's mouth, but the two daughters never heard the mother mention it. Who are they? What kind of story happened to the mother? It is the suspense that the whole film set at the beginning.

The woman's review of her past life, the time of the woman and her daughters, constitute the two main lines of the film. The past tense and the present tense are intertwined with each other, which is intended to express the same female issues in different eras. The film is slightly pale on the main line of dealing with women's memories. The audience just walked around to see what happened to women, two men who changed their lives, and two failed marriages. The treatment of the present tense is mainly focused on the two daughters, focusing on showing these two sisters with completely different personalities and lifestyles, the contradictions between them, their deep feelings for each other, and they finally left because of the death of their mother. Come together, and understand and forgive each other from the beginning.

Love, marriage, family, and career constitute a complete life of a woman. Whether it's the beautiful Ann at the age of 25, or the now sickly Ann, whether it is the conservative family-led sister Kony, or the rebellious sister Nina who yearns for a wandering life, whether it is Ann's nervously sensitive friend. They have concentrated on the traits shared by all women. They are sad for love, tired but happy for the family, and love for their children from the moment of pregnancy... These are the problems that women share.

"Night" keeps me thinking about a question, what is the most important thing in our lives, is it love, family or career? What are we most concerned about, is it ourselves or our relatives? How should we live, especially as women, how can we let our destiny be controlled in our hands, and move forward steadily, so that there will be no life-long regrets.

At this moment, I think of those beautiful lines in the film again, the sad melody of the blues song called "Time After Time", and the busy mother and the girls in her arms in the backlight in the afternoon, the woman and the man who loves her deeply. The women’s stubborn expression resisting the tears of the street encounters, the sailing boat that never sails and the love that has disappeared under the eternal starry sky, gently surging like the waves, is not perfect "Night" left to My, the warmest heartfelt feeling.
