First of all, I'm not certainly sure that this historical fragment before D-Day was based on the truth, if yes, Winston Churchill has been a very dramatic, fragile, sensitive, worried British leader. I could totally understand that he had to obey His Majesty, execute his duties as Prime Minister, encourage the whole nation through broadcasting, concerned about his soldiers, didn't want to see any casualties happen, even suggested shipping with them to Normandy, but at that crucial moment, it was a wise decision to let the troops do their job, because if they didn't, there would be more casualties in the entire world. Behind the cigar smoke, the clink of whiskey glass, the scrutiny of every word of the speeches and letters, the difficulties of communication, just from his selfish perspective,Winston Churchill probably wanted to overpower Dwight Eisenhower and Bernard Montgomery during World War II. By the way, the gesture “V” (victory) is with the back of hand facing outward.
