After watching "The Breadwinner", I feel mixed. When competing for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film Award, he was sadly defeated by "Dream of Dreams", but in terms of concept, it was far more influential than the latter. Just like the previous "Life of Jasmine", compared with Disney and Pixar, the theme and format are more niche and unpopular, but it is refreshing. The "story" itself is weak and unrealistic, but it has a powerful force that beckons, guides, and inspires. The mythology interspersed in the movie understates the cause of death of the protagonist’s brother: while playing on the road, he picked up the "toy", suddenly it exploded, and the story ended. These sentences were repeated over and over again, as if hammering again and again on the nerves. In an instant, the cold numbers on the news website, the miserable war scenes, and the eager eyes for knowledge were vivid in an instant. However, after reading it, I was powerless again, as the mother and sister in the story said, we can't sit on anything. We can't change anything. The roar of the war is from far to near, and the clouds cover the sun. The fate of individuals and small families is uncertain. This country has also been extremely glorious, and has tried hard to seek change, but still has not been able to get rid of the restraint of the interests of all parties, and has struggled through the flames of war.
"Time" once published the cover of an issue: an Afghan girl whose nose and ears were cut off by her husband because of her escape. Terrible, depressing.
I remembered the passage in "A Thousand Splendid Suns". "Behind every dusty face is a soul. I returned to Kabul in 2003. I saw women wearing traditional masks walking in twos and threes on the street, followed by their tattered children, begging passers-by for change. At that moment, I wanted to know where life has taken them? What dreams, hopes and desires will they have? Have they ever been in love? What kind of husband is? The two decades of war that have spread in Afghanistan What did they lose in the movie? I have talked to many women in Kabul, and their stories are true and heartbreaking."
A person who is capable and vocal should work hard to understand the world, listen to the world, and speak for the weak. Otherwise, he/she will not be worthy of this ability and influence, just a mediocre person who seeks benefits and desires material things. From this perspective, the producer of this film, Angelina Jolie, is so respectable.
