American movie "Time Trap" (Time Trap)

Work Type: Science Fiction

Main actors: Reiley McClendon, Brianne Howey, Cassidy Gifford, Olivia Draguicevich

Story summary: It tells the story of a group of students entering the mysterious cave in search of a lost professor, but strayed into a time trap and fell into a dilemma

Release time: February 24, 2018

A small-cost science fiction film with interesting ideas (nested, one-by-one), and a slightly rushed ending (anticlimax), which is still unfinished.

Looking ahead

①Small cost movie! Make videos independently! Participating films at the 43rd Seattle Film Festival! The author roughly speculates: the works are more visible

②The movies that are connected with the word "time" are pretty good, no matter how well they are made, at least they are quite gimmicky.

③How to shoot science fiction films with limited funds? First, abandon the "visual effect bonus"; second, strengthen the "science fiction concept".

Guanzhong Essays

① Sophisticated conception

a, the speed of time passing + plot nesting, this is the main selling point.

b. The introduction of the "Legend of the Fountain of Ages" aroused the audience's interest in the film.

c, modern people, primitive people, future people, everyone is involved in the drama, a hodgepodge, and a great fusion.

②General narrative

a, flat and straightforward

Lack of starting, supporting and turning, multiple timelines have become a veritable supporting role.

b, anticlimactic

The first half is full of gimmicks; the second half is slightly tired; the finale is quite inexplicable.

③Fuck the ending

I felt that the director Jiang Lang was exhausted. At the end of the film, he couldn't make it up, so he ended up in a hurry and came up with a "Martian Immigration Project." This rough ending forms a clear contrast with the previous meticulous story line, it is really "no contrast, no harm."

Thoughts after viewing

①Small cost, great wisdom

The production investment is not enough, the IQ will come together! Although the investment is limited, but the IQ is unlimited. With an unconventional script, Dennis, the screenwriter and director, presented a creative work to all audiences.

②Strong plot, weak actors

The plot is not much to say, it is very exciting, especially the redefinition of the concept of time, which is eye-catching. Focus on talking about actors, and comment in one sentence "acting skills are not enough". If these actors can add more to the play and act more realistically, perhaps the style of this film will go further.

③The subject is unclear and incomprehensible

In the film, the director allows us to see the earth of the future-barren, crowded, yellow sand, this scene is shocking, I thought that the director would use this theme to sublimate the theme, but in the end there is nothing, it is just a cutscene. It's a pity that the setting was too sloppy, and the good theme (protecting the earth) was abandoned.

The final review.

Screenwriter ★★★★☆ (There is a set of ideas, very good skills)

Director ★★★★☆ (self-written and self-directed, using brain power to defeat the "money offensive")

Actors ★☆☆☆☆ (No name is called, a few actors will be in full play)

Plot ★★★☆☆ (except the theme is a little bit different, the ending is a bit anxious, everything else is fine)

Visual effects ★☆☆☆☆ (small cost, don’t expect too much)

Sound effect ★★★☆☆ (normal, normal play)

Recommended degree★★★☆☆

Time Trap quotes

  • Taylor: None of this was supposed to happen. You went looking for someone who went missing while he was looking for someone else that went missing.

  • [last lines]

Furby: What the heck is this place?

Jackie: Well, it's not quite home, but at least were all together.

    Furby: Together? Like together-together?

Taylor: Let's get you guys dried off...

Jackie: No, goof. Come on, I'll show you around. A lot's changed, but... we're kind of a big deal around here.
