The main line of the story is that the writer was supposed to take care of his daughter. He answered the phone and caused her daughter to drown. He told his wife that it was a work call, and his wife accepted the facts, but he could not swim anymore. Finally, he confessed to his wife that the answer was not a work call, but an affair. On the phone call, the wife was relieved and understood that her daughter’s death was not the cause of her.
There are also three story lines outside the main line, which are plots in the writer's works. Each story tells about the father's guilt and remedy for his daughter, and is about a father's salvation.
The first one is the designer’s story. The designer’s daughter drowned and he could only find some comfort by listening to the phone messages repeatedly. Later, he ran into a young mother in a bar who was looking for her daughter in spite of some. The same illness brought them closer. Distance, so he tried his best to help the poor mother find her daughter. The designer does not ask for anything in return, but only wants to reunite the mother and daughter. He wants salvation in others.
The second story is the story of the painter. The painter learned that his wife had abused his son and forcibly separated the child from his mother. The mother made a lot of efforts to see the child goodbye. Finally, the wife told him that she did not abuse her son, just to make the child obedient, and told him that as a father, he did not fulfill his responsibilities as a father. The son ran to his mother desperately, and the son obeyed his mother’s instructions to take care of him. The artist finally called his wife as well. Give your wife and yourself a chance to redeem.
The third story is the story of a young girl. The writer wanders between his wife and a young girl. The girl looks strong, but she has an undesirable experience. A man like her father plunges her into the quagmire. She is also a child and has been irresponsible for several years. The elders made the young girl endure the same experience as a daughter, so the writer showed his love to the girl again, wanting to free the girl from misfortune, so that she and herself can be redeemed.
In the middle of the night, the writer was shocked by the sound in the darkness of the room. There may be a perfect story, but salvation may be an unreachable journey!
