I wrote this spit while crying

I have a prejudice, that is, it's better not to shoot science fiction movies. This kind of statement is too absolute, and it has a fascist taste, which is easy to be despised, so I have always wanted to change a euphemism, but until now I still can't find a more accurate expression.

When the live-action version of "Ghost in the Shell" was released last year, I wrote:

Stripped of the sci-fi shell, the inside of the US version of "Ghost in the Shell" is a power to promote friendship, family affection, love, resistance to power, the pursuit of truth, the search for self, and ultimately based on human nature higher than evil. Love can save the world's growth inspirational blockbuster. In terms of conception, it may be a bit higher than "Zoo Crazy", and should be on the same level as "Lego Batman Movie".

In fact, it's not that friendship, family affection, love, and the pursuit of freedom are bad. They are good, but they are a bit vulgar. Vulgar does not mean that they are low-level. Vulgar things can also be very high-level, but the high-level vulgarity is bad in its high-level—things such as love and justice are too high-level. They are simply top-level things. Some people dare to shake their heads and say it’s not good. If you say it’s not good, you’re a little bit awkward. So when many people see this, they clap their hands blindfolded and applaud. It’s vulgar.

To make matters worse, knowing that everyone will applaud when they see this kind of thing, the creator will try their best to add a little more to the work, and add a little more, things become a little kitsch. In this way, the mind is always shifting in this aspect, and the pattern is not big. If the creator is not at home, the work will not be good-looking, and the evaluation will not be high. In the end, it will say: The world has changed, and the people's hearts are not old. I sigh that people don't care about justice and freedom anymore. In fact, it's not that I don't care about justice and freedom, but that the film is really not good enough, nothing more.

I say this without referring to any domestic movies, nor is it to say that Duncan Jones' new science fiction film "Mute" is suspected of kitsch. But just like New Wave Godmother Varda's comment on the new Hollywood movie "Graduate": "I can almost imagine the creative team sitting in a circle and quietly discussing new ideas that can make the movie look more nasty", the author is also simply It can be imagined how Mr. Duncan Jones contemplated that his character's fate would be more miserable, more lonely, and more humane.

For example, the setting of the protagonist dumb represented by the movie title "Mute" makes people feel uninteresting. In the noisy Berlin city of the future world, Leo, a dumb male protagonist played by the glamorous Swedish male god Skarsgaard, works as a bartender in a bar. In addition to "Silent", this year there is another movie about dumb, that is, "The Shape of Water", which was nominated for 13 Oscars. In the latter part, the loneliness caused by dumb and the unacceptability of society are almost straightforward. Leading to the hostess's sympathy for the big fish monster.

But in "Silent", the dumb male protagonist seems to come in handy only when he can’t speak on the phone, or when there is no way to search for books by voice in the library. Seriously, it can actually be deleted, the same situation. It also includes the orientation setting of the villain pedophilia, which is not very helpful to promote the plot.

You can say that it is a metaphor of loneliness. It is a fable that Duncan Jones has too much noise in the information society, and people themselves have lost the possibility of vocalization. Even if they do, they will be immediately overwhelmed. But to be honest, you don't need to tell me this. If a setting can be deleted without affecting the work, it is better to delete it. Hemingway told us that there are too many adjectives in the article. It may be that the author is not confident about what he wants to express, so he must first confuse the readers. Of course, you can also write aesthetic articles, but there is still some truth in it. good.

Even the biggest gimmick in the film was the one that was originally the most anticipated: "Cyberpunk", it is not clear that there is an inevitable connection with what the film is about. There are two clues to the story. One is that the male protagonist roams the streets of Berlin looking for his missing girlfriend; the other is that a grumpy American deserter wants to get a fake passport and escape back to the United States.

I guess that Duncan Jones wanted to use the cyberpunk urban landscape to express a picture of the bottom of society—chaotic, noisy, indifferent and anarchic. But this is like Matt Damon’s "Shrinking Life", through the soft science fiction theme of shrinking the human body, to talk about racism and environmental issues, it is somewhat disappointing and lack of imagination.

The actor Skarsgard once said that after reading the script, he felt a bit like a noir film in the 1940s, "Malta Eagle" or "Casablanca". Judging from the theme of constantly going in and out of the tavern looking for lovers, and deserters smuggling, it does have that meaning-a little suspenseful, a little dirty, if so, what does the sex robot and white-eyed thugs in the film mean? Surprising, it can only be explained as more metaphors (this is without considering the lack of funding or the length of the film).

Must sci-fi movies like Oshii and Ridley Scott explore the mysterious and mysterious human destiny and the eternal future? Although this is another fascist statement, I still have this expectation in private. The science fiction writer Ursula Le Guen, who passed away a few days ago, created many brain laboratories in her life, allowing people to imagine what a genderless world is like, and allowing people to observe that the world is divided into absolute anarchy What will happen to socialism and absolute hierarchical society? Philip Dick and Oshii Mamoru put forward the situation of human beings as well as human emotions, and then asked: How do people think of human beings?

They are all difficult mysteries, they definitely will not create a redemptive illusion: true love can save the world, perpetrators will eat their own fruits, etc.-in the face of specific problems, this conclusion seems too light.

I don't dare to watch movies about true love, because true love is invincible, and it is not Superman with a punch. How lonely is invincible. I am also very afraid of movies that criticize pedophiles, because pedophilia is really too bad, dare you say that you don't like movies that criticize pedophiles? You beast!

I admire Duncan Jones’ father, David Bowie. Although he is dead, his singing is sitting in a car and is drifting towards the end of the universe.
