It’s hard to have absolutely good people and absolutely bad people in this world

"The New World" is a South Korean crime gang movie directed by Park Hoon-jung and starring Choi Min-sik, Hwang Jung-min, and Lee Jung-jae. The film tells a story about conspiracy and betrayal between the police, the undercover gangster and the gang boss. The film was released in South Korea on February 21, 2013.
"The New World" was once called the Korean version of "Infernal Affairs" by the Korean media, but it did not develop in two lines like "Infernal Affairs". There are also weaknesses in the character and plot development. Cui Minzhi played the role of Chief Jiang Jiang. too little. To be honest, I didn't expect anything to do with Infernal Affairs after reading it. There is no doubt that both films are gangster films, and the protagonists of the story are also undercover, but the overall tone of the two films is completely different. Infernal Affairs is obviously biased towards idealism, while New World is a realistic realist gangster film. In addition to Ding Qing's basic feelings for Li Zicheng, emotional factors are only the foil of reason.
I think this is a very exciting undercover gangster film. The ending is quite realistic. Undercovers are not necessarily just that way. Because undercover agents are also humans, as long as they are humans, in order to survive and face the oppression of fate, they will resist. This has nothing to do with justice or not, this is true human nature.

Ding Qing looks so much like one of my high school classmates. This guy is a bad guy. He was diagnosed with kidney deficiency in the first year of high school and claimed to masturbate at least five times a day. So much so that when Ding Qing said "the old stick in Yanbian" in very non-standard Mandarin, he couldn't help laughing. The outbreak behind Li Zicheng is particularly brilliant. His wife's miscarriage may be a metaphor. From that moment on, his "new life" has been doomed. But for him, it was obviously helpless. Instead of being killed by the police, it would be better to kill everyone.

In contrast, the pattern of Infernal Affairs is a little smaller, because Infernal Affairs only stands on a secular standpoint, and it takes the police as a righteous gang to be an evil, but in reality, how can the righteousness and evil be so clear? This film treats both sides equally, and the final new world master is born, and his choice is made by both sides! Truly a great gangster movie.
