Undoubtedly a masterpiece of political comedy

If there is any film that can best show BW's outstanding screenwriting ability, it is probably this one. A comedy, with such a compact rhythm, can link up the rich baggage and construct a very smooth plot. It is worthy of a masterpiece of film and television. James Cagney’s baby face is still undiminished after the baptism of years, and his superb acting skills make this film not boring for almost half of the shots to follow him. On the contrary, it was he who gave a series of instructions to "reform" Otto in the office. The lens of this movie pushed the movie to a climax. It’s really embarrassing to look at the films that selected the Oscars that year, and then look at the award-winning works in recent years.

    9. At first glance, I thought of Ninocheka written by Wilder, but this film is better in times. During the Cold War, various political satires were quite funny. The Communist Party of the Soviet Union must have hated Wilder after watching it.

  • Otto: Das ist eine Kuckucksuhr!

  • Peripetchikoff: While they are putting Uncle Sam in cuckoo clock, we will put Soviet cosmonaut on moon.

C.R. MacNamara: Okay, so you guys may be the first to shoot a man to the moon, but if he wants a Coke on the way, you'll have to come to us.
