I have always felt that the beginning of the film and television is very important. At the beginning of the film, the scene of Chef Zhu cooking with flowing water and flowing water firmly caught Ben's eyeballs. It is really a visual feast.
The story revolves around the family of Chef Zhu and his three daughters. They lose their sense of taste after retiring at home. The estrangement between father and daughter and the sudden death of old friends make Lao Zhu a little bit depressed. Visitors may all envy the three sisters' loving feast every Sunday, but the people in it may not be conscious of blessings.
At first glance, the movie looks dull. In fact, contrast and reversal are everywhere. The second daughter has been looking forward to leaving home, but for various reasons she finally became the only one left and inherited her father’s business. However, the eldest daughter who seems to be conservative in the family suddenly flashed into marriage and can’t wait to stay overnight. Leaving home, the biggest reversal comes from Lao Zhu, who is usually serious and silent. When he announced his love in the evening, he surprised a table of people and the audience. Gui Yalei's performance before and after was quite interesting and also contributed to the laughter.
In the end, the dramatic recovery of Lao Zhu's sense of taste is actually an attitude conveyed by the film. I feel that Ang Lee's film is hard to know the whole picture after watching it, and it is worth tasting and tasting.
