At the beginning of the film
The Interstellar Federal Prison is using a machine to dig out the memory of his creation of a portal from rick’s brain
Rick created a fake memory. In the memory, another Rick created the portal, and then someone threw a bomb and killed the young Rick’s wife and daughter.
Young Rick successfully made a portal gun in his grief, but the formula written on the ground is actually a virus
After he took control of the machine, his body was beaten to death. He used the body of a bug to transfer his consciousness to another Rick, and then he did not know how many times he turned it.
In the film, Rick said that the part where his wife and daughter were killed is a forged memory, but I think there are some things to discuss here.

Rick and Morty in the comic is from the C-132 dimension
