Mildred seems to be kind, but Character is also problematic. Just like Monty said, she is always using others, but she doesn't have enough respect with them. In fact, Veda always wanted to show kindness to her mother. For example, after the matter between herself and Sammy was messed up, she hid her mother and didn't want her to hurt her mind, and finally came back happily to say goodbye, but Mildred didn't appreciate it twice.
The reason why Veda blackmailed Sammy and must pay Treviso's tuition by himself was to get rid of Mildred's suffocating love. Children need independent space when they are older, but Mildred never considered this.
Mildred is inherently inferior and self-loving, so she is afraid of making friends and always wants her daughter's affirmation. This is why she always pesters Veda for nothing.
But everyone doesn't seem to understand Veda's troubles and Mildred's fault, Treviso even said that Veda is a poisonous snake. Veda slept with Monty, but he couldn't help saying that Mildred forced it out. Did she really understand the heart of Monty or Veda? Do you really respect them? Or have you always been busy with yourself?
