The "old goat" with a fierce look for his son's revenge

I have watched a lot of Nordic movies during this period of time, and each movie has an icy and snowy scenery, which is especially suitable for the increasingly hot and dry May. Therefore, I originally planned to go to the archive to watch this "The Order of the Missing" and hoped that the snowstorms in Northern Europe would cool down Beijing in May. However, I never thought that yesterday was a day when I went to the movies. But this one The movie as a whole did not disappoint me.

The name of the movie is "The Order of Disappearance", but in fact it is not the order in which everyone disappeared, but the order in which they died. The film also specifically emphasizes the order. After each character dies, there will be a shady scene, with a cross painted, and the title and name of the dead character written, accompanied by religious music, which is quite sacrificial. And because everyone has different religious beliefs, the cross is also different. The most spoof is that the gangster is probably a vegetarian, so he is a sign of humanitarianism after his death.

There is also an interesting detail about the order of death. When the final subtitles of the movie are published, the names of all actors are directly typed on one page, and then eliminated one by one according to the order of death in the movie. In the end, only those who are not dead are left. Those two old men.

There is another interesting aspect of the movie. Because the movie involves a large number of gang members, each of them has his own title. For example, the gangster "Earl", the money-first killer "Chinese", and the male protagonist Niels was originally the "Wingman" (Wingman), the reclusive brother of the underworld. It is explained in the movie: This is the tradition of the old gangsters. People can't help but laugh.

In terms of character creation, the male protagonist Niels is an ordinary snow sweeper. He even won the best citizen of the year for his hard work. However, in revenge, he is an "old goat" with a fierce look, cruel and cold-blooded; and The gangster "Earl" is a modern art lover with a unique taste, sometimes serious, sometimes mad, and a black-bellied vegetarian; the other gang member of the Serbian gang is an elderly man, taciturn and cruel.

In fact, you can see the black humorous style of this movie from these small details. The theme of the movie is very old-fashioned, it is a story about revenge, but it did not take the line of cold and violent, but in the process of revenge, it attracted "the intervention of a third party", and a fire among gangs was on the verge of breaking out. , And the protagonist of revenge for the son continues to provoke between the two.

So, this movie is actually a Western movie in essence, with ambitions, wanton fights, and no kings. The police in the movie have no sense of existence. The first time they appeared was when the protagonist Niles and his wife looked at the body of his son, telling them that the child died from a drug overdose, and said that the police had nothing to do with the young man who harmed him and did not plan to do so. The

next pair of police officers who appeared after the case was filed and investigated would only stick a ticket, collect the corpse, and even vomit when facing the corpse. In the whole movie, the gang fires and kills, the protagonist takes revenge, kills and throws the body, and the police have no idea. The only sense of presence of the police in the movie is probably the infinite scene that was shown at the end of the movie.

To put it simply, the ice and snow in this movie is actually the uncivilized West at the time. To solve everything by force, only the most basic morals and rules exist. Therefore, the two gangsters in the movie also pay attention to rules, respect the spirit of contract, and uphold etiquette, so they have been in peace for many years.

But the appearance of the male protagonist Nils completely disrupted the originally harmonious gang order. Because he was not here to talk about rules, he came with the most direct hatred and death.

A friend of Nils’ son secretly took some drugs from the gang, but the gang blamed Nils’ son, and finally killed him with a fake drug overdose. The elderly bereaved Niels was disheartened when he was about to swallow a gun to commit suicide. He was interrupted by the friend of the culprit and was told the reason for the whole thing and the real culprit who killed his son.

The first half of the movie has a particularly good rhythm. Early in the morning, the hero Nils got up and drove the huge and heavy snowplow to sweep the snow. A viable road was opened for vehicles in a white, icy and snowy field, and all the vehicles followed him slowly. The rumbling machine sprayed the snow on the road several meters away, and the snow and dust it raised was like a sandstorm.

When night fell, Niels crossed a snow-covered bridge from the outskirts into the city, and the brightly lit city at the end of the bridge looked like "Gotham City." For a moment, I almost felt that Niels was the Batman of this city, coming out at night, punishing evil and promoting good, but Niels' goal was simpler and more straightforward, just avenging his son.

For three consecutive nights, Niels cleanly killed three gangsters, and wittily wrapped the corpses with fine wire mesh and threw them down the waterfall. Because of this, the corpse will not swell up, and the small fish can pass through the fine barbed wire to eat the corpse. I have to say that as a snow sweeper, Niels is a born killer.

The scene of corpse throwing in the movie is also very shocking. There is a turbulent waterfall hanging on the edge of the cliff. The male protagonist Nils stood tremblingly on the edge of the cliff and threw the corpse down. The corpse fell into the abyss along with the water. This scene recurs and is accompanied by martyrdom music, which is impressive. When he threw the corpse for the first time, he even had some envy for this corpse, and it was a good death to be buried under such a magnificent waterfall.

After three consecutive "disappearances", the gang elder brother "Count" mistakenly believed that the Serbian gang had provoked them, so they decided to kill a Serbian gang member, but they did not expect that this man was the biological son of the Serbian gang elder brother. This made the Serbian gangster furious and prepared to kill the son of the "Earl" in order to pay for his life. At the same time, the male protagonist Niels is also preparing to kidnap the son of "Earl" to blackmail the Earl.

Therefore, at this time, the son of the "Earl" connected these three forces together, and they all wanted this little boy. In the end, Niels successfully kidnapped the little boy. As the son of the big gangster, the little boy has a mature mind that does not match his age, as well as the innocence and ignorance that a child should have.

The little boy even asked Niels to tell him a bedtime story, so Niels had to read him a book similar to the manual for snowplow models. The two embraced and slept, quite warm. Because Niels didn't take good care of his son, perhaps he regarded this child as his own to a certain extent.

At the end of the movie, all three forces gathered in front of Niels’ company, and a melee was inevitable. The gangs fight against each other, but Niels drove a huge snowplow to chase down his enemies. All the gang members died in this shootout. Only Niels and the Serbian gangster survived and drove the snowplow into the distance. Perhaps it is because they are all elderly people who have lost their beloved sons, and the film director made them live.

Therefore, it can be understood that the son is an important element in this movie. Both Niels and the gangster brother in Serbia lost their sons in old age and avenged their sons. Another big brother of the gang, "Earl", loves his son deeply, and even quarrels with his divorced wife about his son's custody.

Just as Zhou Yunpeng sang in "Chinese Children": It's not as good as the old goat in the wild, in order to protect the lambs with a fierce look. The Niels in the movie is exactly the old goat who showed a fierce look in order to avenge his children. The hatred turned him from a good law-abiding citizen into a cruel killer.

The Nordic wind and snow of the whole movie are extremely beautiful, the soundtrack is particularly good, a complete and interesting story, plus some details of the jokes, for example, "Earl"'s last words are "Tell his ex-wife she is a bitch", but also There are some jokes such as "sunshine and welfare cannot have both", which makes people laugh. On the whole, it can be called an excellent black humor movie.

It’s just that the arrangement of the final battle with multiple forces finally brought together reminds me of Du Qifeng, so I always felt that if Du Qifeng were to schedule this shootout, it would be cooler and more exciting than the movie, and the ending may be possible. Everyone will die in this gunfight, and there will be no survivors.
