One with two sides

Because I saw Dou Sen's theatrical version, I looked for the movie version of Uncle Ra. The movie version is very novel and set in the modern era, but the characters are still Shakespeare's lines. But this is not the biggest difference between the two.

I think that the two versions have two sides as one, emphasizing different aspects of this story.
The Coriolanus of Shakespeare is so likable. When watching the movie, he was completely immersed in sympathy for what happened to him. Therefore, he was particularly disgusted with the group of ordinary people who were stirred by selfish guardians in a few words. This is also due to the detailed depiction of the insults Coriolanus suffered when he was exiled from the city, as well as the close-ups of the heads of several people. I want to say that Shakespeare reconsidered that democracy is easy to be manipulated 400 years ago, and it is also a rio bull...
The uncle version of Coriolanus is too fierce, which infinitely magnifies the shortcomings of Kou Liulan's own personality: self-directed, negative emotional intelligence, and proud to fly. All the humiliated parts of the city have been deleted, and the corresponding focus is no longer the theater version of "democracy is shit". In addition, Aufidius did not perform well in the theater version, and could not hold up the position of Coriolanus' mortal enemy.

The difference between the two versions is that Coriolanus's mother is super annoying. It is no exaggeration to say that he died in his mother's hands! Both versions of Coriolanus’s wife have no sense of existence. The theater version’s slightly better result is entirely because of n kisses with Dou Sen...

Three and a half. No matter how you see Shakespeare's lines in a modern context, your whole body is twisted. Talking normally can save at least half an hour. The first half of the movie can be said to be a good media textbook, suitable for people who are easily incited, including myself.

Putting Shakespeare's story into a modern theme is a good wish, but watching Voldemort and Sparta with submachine guns speaking Shakespeare's lines is very timeless. The characters come from ancient times, and the story can't go back to modern times.

Coriolanus quotes

  • Menenius: I am known to be a humorous patrician, and one that loves a cup of hot wine with not a drop of allaying water in it. One that converses more with the buttock of the night than with the forehead of the morning. What I think I utter, and spend my malice in my breath.

  • Caius Martius Coriolanus: [shouting agitated] By Jove himself, it makes the consuls base, and my soul aches to know when two authorities are up, neither supreme, how soon confusion may enter twixt the gap of both and take the one by the other. Thus we debase the nature of our seats and make the rabble call our cares fears, which will, in time, break open the locks of the senate, and bring in the crows to peck the eagles!
