There are no big names gathered, no special effects, no suspenseful plot design, and no epic story background. The movie unfolds slowly and calmly like a vivid and elongated picture: the background is a stretch of magnificent mountains and rivers, and wind. Whispering softly, the birds are singing softly, and the smell of trees, grass, and soil are clearly distinguishable in the humid air. Two old men with very different personalities just set foot on a mountain trail together. In the meantime, there are naturally many situations and constant jokes. They cursed and laughed together; they played clever things together and made pranks together; they rolled into the ditch together and fell down the steep slope together...Even though they could not reach their destination in the end, they all found what they were missing.
Starring Robert Redford, Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, I'm not very familiar with them. I feel familiar and I can't remember where I met them. But these are not important anymore. The two old seniors performed in this movie naturally and well, as if they were playing their own lives. They are familiar with the road. The deep and old eyes sometimes reveal the helplessness and loneliness as deep as the bottom of the sea. Flashing with childlike cunning and optimism, it is simply perfect!
