1. Noah & Greta

director Noah Baumbach and the elder sister actor Greta Gerwig in the play are a pair! The two co-created the script of this play, and they expressed that the creative process is a kind of enjoyment. They have collaborated on two films in this way, the other is Frances Ha (Frances Ha, 2012). Both of these films tell stories of some young Luther women struggling hard in New York. The director himself grew up in Brooklyn, New York.

The main creator couple stated that they are required to perform strictly according to the script on the set and cannot improvise by themselves. They performed in accordance with the requirements of the stage play.

The director was also a screenwriter of the animated cartoons "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (Fantastic Mr. Fox, 2009) and "Madagascar 3" (Madagascar 3, 2012). His other self-written and directed work this year is "While We're Young" (While We're Young), which is a "sister chapter" of this film.

2. Lola & Greta

double heroine actors are: younger sister-Lola Kirke, older sister-Greta Gerwig. The former played a role named Greta in "Gone Girl" (Gone Girl, 2014), and the latter played Lola in the 2012 comedy "Lola Versus".

The role of sister Tracy in the film actually originated from her sister + screenwriter Greta, including the college life at the beginning of the movie, all of Greta's personal experience. The Barnard College where my sister studied in the movie is Greta's alma mater in reality, and the hallway in the dormitory is the same one she stayed in during school. The younger sister performer said that she had been wearing Greta's college jacket on set.

3. Chekhov

In the film, the conversation between the characters is not a real communication, but a self-confidence. The creator said that this kind of dialogue is very much like Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya; and in reality, people don’t listen to others very much. You say yours and I say mine. So I really want to show this social phenomenon in the movie. In addition, "Uncle Vanya" also tells a story of the collapse of an idol.

4. The

main creator of neuro comedy thinks that the film is a bit like a screwball comedy in the 1930s and 1940s. The characters in neuro comedy are weird and neurotic, with dense dialogue. Representative works such as "It Happened One Night" (1934), "The Shop Around the Corner" (1940), "Bringing Up Baby" (1938).

5. Last Cowboy

mentioned at the end of the film that New York is no longer suitable for "cowboys" like Brooke. In the film, sister Brooke's dressing style is also in the 1980s and 1990s, suggesting that such people cannot exist in modern New York.

They also mentioned that for the portrayal of women in the film, they referenced many 1980s films: "Something Wild" (Something Wild, 1986), Madonna's first film "Desperately Seeking Susan" (Desperately Seeking Susan, 1985), etc. . In these films, the female characters have a crazy and dangerous charm. They are mature women with a bit of toughness, not ignorant little girls.

    Karen: Just...

    Tony: Yes please.

    Dylan: No...

Mamie-Claire: Wait, it hasn't done yet.

  • [First lines]

Tracy: [narrating] She would say things like, "Isn't every story a story of betrayal?" No, that's not true, I thought. But I could never say that. I could only agree with her. It was too much fun to agree with her.
