This is a horror movie

This is a horror movie, because it makes people very heart-wrenching. During the movie, I pressed the pause button countless times because I couldn't see a child being treated so cruelly, and a child being treated so tenderly to others.

Many movie viewers are moved by the children’s sensibility, but few people realize that sometimes labeling children’s behavior with such "mature" and "sensible" labels is actually a cover up of the adult's excessive behavior and is looking for continuation. An excuse to hurt the child so much. In this film, the two people who love themselves the most in their hearts and don’t know how to love their children keep repeating "I love you more than anything" to their children, but in fact this sentence is not translated as "I love You are better than everything" but "I really hate you too much". Because they hate children, they will be upset in front of the children, will constantly scold each other, will say "I marry him for you" and push the responsibility to the children, and will leave the children for personal career. Moreover, these two people have almost never observed the 10-day guardianship period. They are not fighting to love their children, but to care about how their late counterpart affects their career and life.

Maisie knew that she could not do anything about it, so she had to be quiet. Although she seemed to know everything, for example, when she saw Margo burst into tears because she was locked outside and found that her husband hadn't written his name on the lease slip, she turned and walked towards Margo and took her arm. Lean gently on her shoulder. But my feeling is that although the child "understands", she is always forced to accept these. These horrible incidents in the film seem to be the child calmly accepted, but she still has a long way to go. If her future guardian is her biological mother, who knows what risks and challenges she will face in the future and how much she has to bear It is not the pain and sorrow that her age should bear. After she grows up, these childhood puzzles and painful experiences may still be hidden in her relationship with anyone.

The most worrying scene in the film is the conversation between Maisie and her mother on the beach. Her emotions range from surprise to disappointment to fear. Her mother asked her if you know who your mother is, and she said "you". At that moment, I really hope her mother realizes what Lincoln told her: you don't deserve her.

Many moviegoers were also moved by the combination of Margo and Lincoln. In the last scene of the film, Maisie ran happily, Margo and Lincoln walked holding hands with a smile, which is one of the few scenes in the film that makes people breathe a sigh of relief. Perhaps this is the director telling us that such a father and mother, such a loving combination, can make children grow up healthily and happily. It's just that these warmth and happiness did not make this film easy. As long as we think about it for a moment, we will know how short-lived these warmth and happiness are, and this is the most terrifying point of this film.

What Maisie Knew quotes

  • Margo: I'm sorry I got mad at him. He must think I'm awful.

Maisie: Mommy gets mad at him all the time.

  • Lincoln: I was bitten by a turtle once.

    Margo: Were you really?

Lincoln: Yeah... yeah. It even left a scar if you...

    Margo: Rea... really?

Lincoln: [shows Margo his bitten finger] It could've left a scar.

    [Margo laughs]

Lincoln: It's that bad. It could've left a scar.

Margo: Right, yeah. So, is it quite traumatic for you being back here with the turtles?

Lincoln: [interrupting] It was. This is kinda like therapy for me.

    Margo: Oh! It is? Okay.

    Lincoln: Meeting the beast again.

    [Margo laughs]
