Chester, a cunning and decisive financial scammer, has a thin face, wavy blond hair close to the top of his head, and his eyes are like torches. This look reminds me of Balzac's banker Goblisek. Of course, our Chester is more sophisticated in dressing, with suits, leather shoes, shirts and ties. In the prosperous metropolis of New York, this is naturally a normal business dress, but in Greece, which has fallen for two thousand years, it is particularly eye-catching. This place has just been baptized by the artillery fire of World War II, and the people here are used to a leisurely lifestyle. Although this is the origin of European civilization, it has become the decline of the civilized world.
In his suitcase, in addition to a large sum of dollars and a suit, he also brought several books. When Chester sits on the bed and reads carefully or picks up a book in the dining chair on the street, it is easy to think of Viggo's professor in "GOOD". Viggo himself is a gentle and elegant artist, and there is no need for any deliberate performance at this time.
The enemy found them, not knowing whether it was too heavy or intentional, so he killed the detective. Chester began a melodious journey of exile with his wife because of the threat of his entrapped client. The problem, however, is that he was not alone in fleeing, he took his wife, his beloved wife. Men can sleep in the air, eat the stars and wear the moon, but this is too cruel to women, let alone a lady who is accustomed to urban life and pampered. Leaving another country may be a stimulating challenge for Chester, but it is a nightmare torture for his wife. Chester thought he could return to his life once the limelight passed, as he thought, but God likes to roll the dice.
In New York, he has luxurious and comfortable villas, and he can spend money like dirt; in Greece, he can only live in ordinary hotels because of helplessness, and he budgets carefully. But the same is that it is intrigue and fearful. It is not a problem for Chester who is so courageous and skilled in strategy. He has enough confidence in his abilities that it won't take long for him to continue his former glory days. The studious Chester, the origin of Western civilization in Greece, a sacred place of knowledge, is not a bad thing.
The young guide was involved in the case, or was pulled into the water by Chester. Without a passport, he fled to Crete with the help of a guide. Crete, a magical place, part of the ancient Greek world, is quite different from the Greek city-states. Luc Bain said that "This Killer is Not So Cold" must choose New York as the location of the story, a city where one person has disappeared and won't attract any attention. But the peaceful Greece is different. A murder case broke all the peace, like lightning piercing the silent dark night sky. Ups and downs, radio, newspapers, television... Chester was kidnapped and still disapproved, but the feeling that a woman had nowhere to run was enough to destroy her will.
If the plot is concerned, the film is lackluster, and there is not much material that can be written for me. The essence of the film lies in the delicate relationship between the actor Chester, his wife Clayty, and the young guide Lidal. The plot does not have a big opening and closing, so whether it can capture the audience depends on the director's ability to grasp the conflict and the actor's accomplishments in the details of the performance. The rivalry between Chester and Lidal was not obvious at first. Chester is elegant, well-mannered and knowledgeable in conversation, and of course his wealth is also very attractive to Lidal. When the three began to flee, these attractions disappeared, and the new attraction came from Chester's wife, Clayty. Chester wanted to take advantage of the value of Lidal's ground snake, but he didn't expect to steal the chicken. Clity admired Lidal, the young man, who kept showing his favor, which made Chester feel very uncomfortable, like a thorn on his back. It's just that this thorn stuck on the back cannot be simply and roughly pulled out, because it is the key to the passport. Chester had to use alcohol to suppress his dissatisfaction, but the drunk Chester made himself more passive. Unfortunately, Chester is an American, not a French, and he rushes into the crowd to beat Lidal violently. This is Crete, Greece, not New York. The crowd is commotion, and the police appear immediately. Fortunately, Chester still has a trace of reason. All the media information let Lidal know the truth of the murder, but Chester, a senior scammer who is familiar with the road, and his understatement made Lidal promise to keep the secret. It's a pity that the man in love has no IQ, and he can't keep the wind in his mouth, but Clity still knows. The fragile woman originally hated this kind of days of fleeing and running around, and was arrested by the authorities on the back of the murder case. The psychological line of defense was completely collapsed and her behavior was completely out of control. Chester brewed a conspiracy, which could have been easily realized, but Clayty was an uncontrollable factor.
Lidal is a very smart young man, who is still too tender compared to the scheming Chester, but he still finds Chester on the ship. Chester always ridiculed Lidal by mentioning Lidal's father, but it didn't work very well. At the airport Chester still put Lidar together. Lidal is smart, but not noble, and lacks knowledge and experience. Can't help but temptation to open Chester's suitcase, but there is no large amount of cash. The focus on money made him miss the opportunity to escape and the perception of Chester King’s escape, waiting for the arrest of the police.
In this passage, the dead Clayty is no longer important, and how he survives is the most important thing. Lidal also wanted a generous reward worthy of his risk. Originally, Chester thought he had gotten rid of Lidar completely, but he did not expect that he would receive a call from the police in Istanbul. There is a flaw in the plot here. With Chester's wisdom, it should not be difficult to smell the police intervention. In addition, how can a murder case in Greece be traced to Turkey? It is difficult to find a murderer in China who fled to another province. Moreover, although Turkey and Greece are very close, the cultural differences are too big. , And whether the two murders are enough to allow one country to use police force to track down another country.
Chester was shot while fleeing, and before he died, he blamed all the crimes on himself, thus freeing Lidar. Lidal is still young, maybe some of Chester's beautiful qualities, even if they are disguised, are enough to change Lidal. This is the last confession that a person who has done many wrong things in his life can do before his death. Lidar buried Chester.
Everyone knows that Vigo is very particular about the film. The plot of this film is actually very simple. A financial scammer takes his wife to the world. A young man falls in love with his wife. In order to get rid of the young man’s accident and the death of his wife, Lidal was arrested when he escaped and cooperated with the police to arrest Chester. Chester was shot and died and then confessed.
Such a simple and simple plot is obviously not what the director wants to express. There is a very important and special topic between Lidal and Chester, that is Lidal's father. What is Lidal's father like? Chester often deliberately brought up Lidal's father to beat him, and it was difficult to tell whether Chester knew Lidal's false description of his father. But it is obvious that there is a deep contradiction between Lidal and his father, which is a knot in Lidal's heart. Lidar saw Chester more or less the shadow of a good father, and his wealth, which constituted Chester's attraction to Lidar. Chester is eloquent, and every time he mentions Lidal's father, he can have the upper hand in the fight. This kind of secret thing is actually difficult to embody. I think this is a highlight that the director wants to show, and Vigo is a good father himself. Vigo was interviewed at the Cannes Film Festival and said that you knew it was not the first time the film was made by the guy who did this job. So I think it is because the director is not capable enough to show the highlights that he wants, and at the same time, it is not tense enough in other aspects.
