After watching the film, I thought about a few questions:
Why did Rydal keep paying attention to and helping the Chester MacFarland couple? Is it because Rydal said that he looks at Chester like his father, or because he is infatuated with Chester's wife Colette, or both?
Rydal is a female college student who lied to live together. It is difficult to say that he likes Colette. Therefore, he said that he paid attention to Chester MacFarland because he looked at Chester like his father. Afterwards, it showed that Rydal cared about Colette very much, and finally fell in love with Colette; but he couldn't. Excluding the fact that what Rydal said may be true, one is that Chester himself first noticed that Rydal has been paying attention to him, and the other is that Rydal's letters and photos show that he really cares about his father, and his father's photos are somewhat similar to Chester.
Have Rydal and Colette slept?
Chester has always suspected that his wife Colette and Rydal slept, but Colette did not admit it after Chester drunk and made trouble. Colette was the most honest and least liar of the three. Rydal finally said that he slept in the conversation between the coffee shop and Chester. The purpose of Colette should be to provoke Chester to admit his crime, but it is difficult to determine completely.
What is Colette's real name?
Rydal asked Chester for Colette's photo at a coffee shop in Turkey, and asked if Colette was her real name. Chester did not answer. It is inferred that Colette should be her real name, because Chester declared that her real name was Chester before she died, and it was Chester who was hunted down, so Colette did not need to be forced to change her name before losing her passport.
Why did Chester convict Rydal before he died?
This question is worth pondering. Are the two liars finally cherishing each other? You don't have to pretend or can't pretend in front of the same kind, on the contrary, there may be a trace of sincerity between each other. Or is it because they all truly fell in love with a woman? Although Chester hated Rydal, he was finally moved by his love. Or is it good for people to die? And what does the phrase "disappointed you" before Chester died? Is there no hypocrisy or is it not fulfilling the duties of a fake father?
At the end of the film, Rydal should have treated Chester as a father, making up for the regret of missing his father's funeral, and returning his beloved Colette to Chester.
