The kids have a hard life

To watch such a movie, you should make yourself a cup of coffee or green tea during a very leisure time, such as a weekend, and watch it slowly while sitting in front of the computer. For me, this is simply an educational film for older literary and artistic youths. The little girl is so cute and I dream of having such a daughter.

Everything the little girl Messi wears is so beautiful. From start to finish, the little girl is so good and sensible. We all think that children do not understand the world of adults, but in fact, children’s hearts are very complicated. At 57 minutes, Messi, who had never cried from start to finish, was lying alone in the bartender’s house crying. I feel like I was abandoned by my biological parents.

Messi’s parents are really indifferent and irresponsible. The man knows all day that he is traveling abroad to discuss business, and marrying a babysitter is just to use her to take care of the children. The female is touring all day long, marrying the bartender is to let the family take care of their daughter. It's too cruel. If anyone has a daughter like this, it's too late to love them, and they are willing to throw the child around.

In the whole film, the most shots are that the little girl is waiting for someone to pick him up after school, sleeping alone in bed. If this kind of childhood weren't for the appearance of the bartender Lincoln and the nanny Margaux, it would have been so gloomy and lonely. The bartender Lincoln, played by Alexander Skarsgard, had a decadent and swinger feeling at first, and I misunderstood him at first. It wasn't until later that this tall boy was so handsome and gentle, and Messi quickly fell in love with this stepdad. I saw and understood one thing in Lincoln, that you don’t have to be rich to be happy. Generally speaking, a simple job is enough for the family to live, and there is plenty of time. The family cooks together, spends a weekend together, and asks the child to do what she likes, and she will feel very happy.

Behind the viaduct and the glass wall, Lincoln played with Messi for a while. It was so loving and warm. Messi used his finger as a gun to shoot down, and Lincoln immediately fell to the ground very realistically. The road was still a bit dirty. Lincoln didn't mind at all. The performance was really serious. Messi chuckles and laughs happily. This reminds me of another Japanese movie "Summer of Kikujiro". In a different matter, Kikujiro shot a boy. From the point of view of the character's cuteness, Messi wins. It's just that Kitano Takeshi's performance in "Summer of Kikujiro" is extremely colorful, especially the old face with a nervous twitch, his expression is very serious, and I look very happy. I was used to watching his gangster movies, and suddenly came a hooligan warmth like this, which made me watch it several times.

Back to "Messi's World". Messi's biological parents also want to give their children the best, but they love themselves more than their children. Messi always remembered that his father said to take her to take a boat, she had never taken a boat. Messi's mother kept giving Messi something that she didn't really want. The little girl is so sensible, she never cries or makes trouble, and she knows to comfort other children. Whatever you take her to play, she has a great time. On the other hand, we can also see that the living environment in capitalist countries is good. Messi's mother is an outdated singer, Messi's father is a neurotic art dealer, you see that the living environment of other people is so high-end. However, the quality of the day is not satisfactory.

The other thing I have to say is that the soundtrack impressed me. One is, playing the rock and roll sung by Messi’s mother at home, it really feels like. Some small bars want to engage in special features and atmosphere, and want to attract petty bourgeoisie white-collar workers, so they should play some music like this. The stupid song of Uncle Bird all day can only attract a group of fighting hooligans. The other is the end of the film. The three-minute ending music when stepfather Lincoln and stepmother Margaux took Messi on the boat suddenly brought up the feeling. As a result, I should have written this film review vigorously in the tired late night.

Note:
This movie can be watched by couples or couples. It can be watched quietly by a single person, but it is not suitable for a large group of people to watch it noisily. It is also not suitable to go to watch intermittently or when you are sleepy. Because these situations may affect the viewing quality, the inner sensitivity and quiet atmosphere will destroy the whole artistic conception.
If "Messi's World" is an essay, then it should be a prose poem written for childhood.
If "Messi's World" is a cup of tea, then it should be the Changde too green tea I have drunk. It is light, pure, and a bit bitter. Only those who appreciate it will have endless aftertastes after tasting.
If "Messi's World" is a woman, then it should be Margaux, the nanny in the movie, who is tolerant, responsible, and kind, moving people's hearts everywhere.

When I saw the commercial films in the United States, I was thrown up. Every time they were high-tech, most of them went to the theater with expectations and returned disappointed. It is really rare to see Americans producing these delicate films. In my impression, the American dramas are all unacceptable American humor. I want to laugh but not very funny, and I have exaggerated expressions in dialogue. I personally think that the performances of Lincoln and Margaux, as well as the performances of the little girl, are very oriental, without the unique pride of Americans. Just look into their eyes and know that all they want is a complete home, a daughter who can make them love, and a partner who cares about themselves. It's such a simple thing, simple is precious. These details are difficult to grasp, and director Scott McGee can handle them well. I opened the introduction materials and saw that I won the nomination award at the 25th Tokyo Film Festival. No wonder it looks so in line with our Asian tastes.

Finally, say a word to the topic: If you have children, don't let your children live so hard.

  • Margo: I'm sorry I got mad at him. He must think I'm awful.

Maisie: Mommy gets mad at him all the time.

  • Lincoln: I was bitten by a turtle once.

    Margo: Were you really?

Lincoln: Yeah... yeah. It even left a scar if you...

    Margo: Rea... really?

Lincoln: [shows Margo his bitten finger] It could've left a scar.

    [Margo laughs]

Lincoln: It's that bad. It could've left a scar.

Margo: Right, yeah. So, is it quite traumatic for you being back here with the turtles?

Lincoln: [interrupting] It was. This is kinda like therapy for me.

    Margo: Oh! It is? Okay.

    Lincoln: Meeting the beast again.

    [Margo laughs]
