Film Evaluation
"Babette's Feast" (Babette's Feast) is an exquisite movie like a book. The voice-over is always telling stories, telling stories about a pair of sisters giving up their secular feelings for their religious beliefs. This feast is like a love that lasts only one night, and after the end of the song, the people are separated like a mirror of water and moon, and the spring dream is without trace. However, the audience can understand two secrets: First, Babette was a great cook who was a smash hit in France before the Revolution; second, for this banquet, she spent every lottery she won. Francs-in other words, a true French feast is worth 10,000 francs.
The goal of religion, the harmonious coexistence of people, the satisfaction and tranquility of the soul, has not been realized by fulfilling the harsh and almost cruel patriarchal treaties, but a meal that looks extremely extravagant allows people to experience a paradise. Bliss. Such meals are not just meals, they are also a kind of apocalypse, telling us that there is no need to refuse to enjoy, but not to be dominated by enjoyment; the excessive lack of material and the extreme simplicity of life may not be a shame, because it is a long-lasting Extravagance and extravagance can blind people's minds and breed complaints and discord. Such meals are of course not just meals, they are the art of illusion of religious spirituality and human love, the art of life.
Enjoy "Babette's Feast", the film itself is a perfect combination of religion and art: calm and restrained, and radiant. The film won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
