Plunged into the quagmire of civilian war

9/11 caused by the Taliban caused the United States to attack Afghanistan. When they invaded the country they used to fund the anti-Soviet country, they faced locals who were hostile to them.
The Americans also know that if the locals are no longer affected by the Taliban, they can only help them improve their economy and become wealthy. But this is a long-term process, and it is an urgent matter to win the hearts and minds of the people during the war. The Americans now have to make up for their mistakes-that the Soviet Union did not fill the political gap left behind after the withdrawal. Another American film "Charlie's War" recorded the history of that time well. If the United States had invested hundreds of millions of dollars in arming them to defeat the Soviet Union and had only invested a few million dollars in building schools to arm their minds against extreme thinking, this war would not have occurred.
Politics aside, this documentary shows the performance of ordinary soldiers in the war, both the ease of being in the base and the friendship between comrades-in-arms, the helplessness of the locals and the helplessness of their comrades after the death of the war. In modern warfare like the United States, the death of soldiers needs to be avoided. Therefore, we have seen the way of finding concealment and calling for support after hearing the gunfire; using high-precision weapons to destroy the enemy’s forces at a very long distance. The method of warfare; able to suppress firepower during the day, and be afraid of war in the enemy's nest at night.
Although the strength of the US military can quickly destroy a regime, it feels like being stuck in a quagmire when facing militants entering the civilian population, just like Japan is to China and the United States is to Vietnam. It is difficult to win if the foreign invasion does not change the local life. But those who use civilians as shields and get political benefits by trapping civilians in danger need to be condemned even more.

  • Joshua McDonough: They're gathering intel right now, basically, on how to deal with us because they haven't - - there's no real research or intel on how to treat us right now because they haven't had to deal with people like us since WWII and Vietnam, you know, dealing with guys that are coming back from 15 month deployments with as much fighting, you know, as we went through.
