If I had a choice, I would definitely choose Nicolas to be my friend, but I was more interested in Mateo when watching movies. The film spans nearly 40 years, and Nicholas has always been perfect since he was in school. He knows how to love, respect, guide and accompany others. Brothers, sons, fathers, lovers, and friends, he handled everything just right. As for Mateo, I have been expecting the director to arrange a little change in his personality. The six-hour movie is too long for me to predict the plot, but I hope he will grow into a better version of himself.
The difference between the two brothers showed up for the first time when they sent Zuozhen home. When I was still wondering how Madio could compete with an abnormal girl in this way, Nicola came on the stage. He persuaded his younger brother to go back, and quickly calmed Zuo Zhen with a smile, love, wisdom, and humor in the rain, and then changed his dry clothes to Zuo Zhen. This is the first time Nicolas has shown his style in the film. He was really killed by a person's style in an instant. The temperament that exudes from his heart is simply impossible to learn. After communicating with his adolescent daughter, he sent music scores of Bach and Beethoven to his lover in prison, pretending to be someone else and helping his mother who had returned from grocery shopping upstairs. That kind of tender love, everyone in the world who longs for love will fall for him. So when he has gray hair, he can still have this innocent and brilliant smile in front of his daughter, mother, and friends. If you love him, you will know how sadness and joy loosened his skin and dyed his hair white. Gentleness, this is an absolutely gentle man, gentleness is the highest appreciation I can give a person. I have never regarded gentleness and whispering as tenderness. Tenderness is by no means a single quality. Tenderness is the fusion of respect, understanding, tolerance, love and wisdom. Gentleness is like the fragrance of flowers. It absorbs sunlight, rain and dew, so that the breath can be conveyed to you in the sway of the warm wind.
As for Madio, he never learns to control and express his love. For this reason, he missed his father before his death and was separated from his family for a long time. In fact, he always wanted to be like his brother, even when he met his girlfriend, he deliberately reported Nicholas's name. But in the end, he suddenly jumped off the balcony on New Year's Eve, just like his temper. Maybe if Merari answered that call, everything would be different, maybe if he didn't go home and leave in the New Year, the tragedy would not happen like this. I have always felt that the bravest person is the one who can face the person in his heart, shoulder his own responsibilities, face his own shortcomings, and grow according to a good will. In fact, before Madio committed suicide, he and his girlfriend had a very good time. He could almost suppress his personality defects and love someone well. Even, for a moment, I felt that this younger brother finally looked a bit like his older brother. But showing up when his girlfriend shouldn't have disrupted this pace. Kierkegaard said: The greatest pain of man comes from the gap between himself and the one he wants to be; Wang Xiaobo said: All human suffering is essentially anger towards his incompetence; I said: If life has no fulcrum, When it is low, it is easy to fall. If life is not motivated, it cannot move forward when it is flat. His fulcrum is not enough to support his pain, and his motivation is not strong enough to push it. I don't think Madio's suicide is a choice, suicide is just his expression in a moment. Mateo and Nicolas are really sharp and fragile pig iron, and the other is a hundred-smelting steel that can turn fingers and soft.
I have been expecting the director to let the years bring a qualitative growth to Madio, but what I expected has never happened. I really want to say that this is my only dissatisfaction with this movie, but what the director wants to express is not growth, nor how character determines the botched theme of life, but to tell people a fact through this stillness, love And pain. If we love someone, it will definitely hurt. And if a person does not know how to control his love, it will bring much harm and grief to himself and his loved ones. Even if it is perfect like Nicholas, it can only release two beloved people forever through a door. We can love a person, respect a person, understand a person, accompany a person, and enlighten a person. But it is too difficult to save a person. We can start from a correct and reasonable angle, but the intensity cannot be just right. Perhaps there is no salvation at all, only self-salvation.
After Madio's death, his mother wanted to take a few books from his room, but what a pale retention. Lostly holding the book and walked to the yard but couldn't hold it and fell to the ground, the son picked it up and gave it to her. She threw the book away, she wanted a son. The mother and son finally embraced in the rain and cried bitterly. This delicate and moving portrayal is really too much to tears. How should a mother bear this old sorrow, perhaps can only rely on those joys. She and her husband looked with joy when they went to see Nikolai's daughter. The funny priest at the wedding of her daughter Fransca was so warm and funny. Cruyff said: If you can't enjoy football, you can't bear the pressure of football. Isn't it the same in life? Our saddest tears will only flow in front of the most beloved, and the brightest smile can only bloom for the most beloved. Therefore, Nikola will be lucky enough to meet Zozhen again. Therefore, he can still find Madio’s girlfriend. Therefore, at the end of life, his mother will find that she also has a grandson, Madio’s son, so he can still Love someone without taking the past.
The process of the film is extremely beautiful, the life and death of the characters, the sun in Italy, the sea of Sicily, the forests of Norway, and the snowy peaks of the Alps. But the end gave the audience a magical touch. When Madio appeared behind Nikola and Merari, I knew what the director was going to do, and I was very excited about it. In fact, when Merari sent Nicholas on a boat, I felt that the two of them were about to "have an accident". Finally, Madio appeared behind Nicola and his girlfriend, stroked their shoulders, sent them together, turned and disappeared into the path. Then they hugged and kissed, and "Nikola" and Merari finally came together. It is often said that first love is beautiful, because young, no pain, and never seen the clouds. But after going through the vicissitudes of time, the eyes are still with the color of the clear sky, and the love between each other without the past is so precious that people are truly blessed.
Love makes life so splendid.
