behind-the-scenes production
film is adapted from Graham Greene's classic novel. The director of the film, Philip Noyce, had read the original as early as 1970 when he was a student. He himself did not expect that in 20 years, he would adapt Graham Green’s fascinating thriller into a movie. Noyce reread "The Quiet American" in 1995 by chance. This rereading gave the director a different understanding of this complicated story full of political secrets, murder and romance. "I spend time with these American veterans, and they are full of regret for the transformation they have experienced in Vietnam," North said. Confronting the Americans themselves." All these have led to the "Quiet Americans" that we see today.
