For the housewife Penny, what her mother left her was a bad fund, and the fund manager (horse trainer) was still working as a mouse barn. If you change to an ordinary person, you will leave the field. But Penny herself has a special liking for investment (horse racing), and when she has four children, she does it when she thinks it's time to do it. What we saw throughout the film was how she reorganized the management team: fund managers (horse trainers), traders (knights), and how to use leverage to maximize returns.
I don't think this is an inspirational film. Inspirational films are all about how a person overcomes his own difficulties, walks out of the trough, and finally achieves excellent results. This film is about the quality of leaders. What Penny does is far beyond inspiration. Her vision is definitely Bo Le's vision, whether she looks at people or horses, she has shown amazing insight. Her foresight and courage are not comparable to those of her high-educated professor brother and lawyer husband. It is beyond the imagination of the times to let others buy options for horse racing. Because of these outstanding conditions, she finally convinced the rich man to get financing. If she does not possess such qualities, the rich can wait for her cash flow to be cut off and then buy her horse racing at a low price. I think the rich believe that only she can make the existing team play the best.
The charm of a leader lies in self-confidence. She doesn't hesitate to do things on her own, has clear rewards and punishments, and shares ups and downs with the team. This is completely different from the individualist who goes by himself and does everything by himself. Her performance in several press conferences against powerful opponents can be used as a teaching material.
Although she has the best horse racing, the ultimate victory is not just the horse itself, her team is the best, and her decision at critical moments is also the most correct. This also includes investment management issues such as how to correct errors and how to stick to one's own opinions. This movie can be watched with Buffett's book.
If you only see inspiration, you will waste a learning opportunity in vain.
