Before watching "Making Woodstock", I didn't have much expectations. I had a very moderate evaluation of this movie, and Li Ang He has always been tepid, and I really don't have much confidence in whether he can perform exceptionally in the face of such a passionate subject. Before looking at it, I thought, I already have a standard.
But the fact is that when I watched this movie, my emotions burst out irresistibly, breaking my rational judgment of this movie. This may be the power of love that rock gives to people's hearts.
First of all, sensibly, this is a good movie, and it is also Lee's personal interpretation of this grand rock passion. If you think about it, you should know that Ang Lee’s story must be about family, love and understanding. Perhaps this is also the author of "Making Woodstock", I hope Ang Lee knows the reason, because for him, it has nothing to do with music, this is just a journey of understanding for a family.
Therefore, in Ang Lee's movie, we just looked at the stage from a distance, did not perform, did not act Jimi Hendrik, did not act Joplin. Just as the men and women taking psychedelic drugs in the film said, "We are standing on the hillside and looking at the crowd below. It is amazing, like an ant, bursting out a huge amount of electricity." Indeed, Li Ann is standing. From the height of a bystander, to show the masses of beings of that era.
Well, many of these people have said before.
For me, my own feelings, for Woodstock, for those who are free. I came to look at them with so excited admiration. They are happy for a little thing for no reason, and for a certain spirit, they gather together. In the film, the policeman wearing flowers, carrying the protagonist through the streets full of hippies, I saw all kinds of people, gathered together, those slogans, those freedoms, those crazy, even those lemonade and watermelons, They all give people a feeling of infinite freedom. Lenovo went to similar music festivals that I went to, but they couldn't give me this kind of power. This was only in the 1960s, and only in Woodstock.
When night falls, when under the effect of psychedelic drugs, the crowd is like an undulating wave, and flowers bloom on the stage, and I also have unstoppable tears to flow out.
So many viewers, but so organized and so happy. This is really the power of that era that made it so great.
At the end, when Mike said that I had another free concert to prepare. My heart went cold all of a sudden. Isn't it the one?
When he continued to say the word "rolling stone", I really couldn't help but marvel and shed tears, four months, only four months later. Rock utopias, rock dreams, at that concert, all were broken, all shattered. It's just that they don't know on Woodstock, they are immersed in heaven.
Four months later, the Rolling Stones held a free concert in San Francisco and 400,000 spectators came to the scene. They wanted to replicate the brilliance of "Woodstock", but things backfired. That concert was a chaos. There was a large-scale conflict between the "Hell Angels" of the speeding party who participated in the security work and the fans. The concert was intermittent and ended in the death of a fan. And this is also a sign of the demise of the entire counter-culture wave and the entire rock utopia in the 1960s. And all this was recorded in the shots of "Give Me Sanctuary" by the other two great directors, the Mesos brothers.
From heaven to hell, only four months. In those four months, we once saw the dawn of heaven, but now we are still living in the endless darkness of purgatory.
