Do you believe in fate?

This film was watched at the beginning of the summer of 2008. It is not well-known, and there are few reviews about it on the Internet, and few people even say it is good. "The love triangle between a generation of avant-garde artist Andy Warhol, the famous movie star Edie Sedgwick and the folk song master Bob Dylan", the story reprinted on various channels is roughly the same. Because he didn’t know anything about Pop Art, Bob Dylan only heard about it, so he couldn’t analyze it from the historical background and the characteristics of the era like some film critics did. I faced only a person named Edie. The life of a beautiful woman.
At the beginning of the film, the haggard heroine runs retrograde on a busy street. At night, the camera follows her through vehicles that are stalled due to traffic jams. The narration sounded: "Once I went to a party, there was a palmist, when she looked at my hand, she was just... dumbfounded. Then I told her, I know, my lifeline is Broken. I won't live to be thirty years old. "It was this opening, this passage that attracted me all at once.
Edie comes from a traditionally wealthy family in the United States, who has her own farm and oil fields. However, she was born with a golden spoon and did not enjoy the happiness that a rich girl should have. On the contrary, her family has a history of mental illness, the accidental death of two brothers (suicide and car accident) and the sexual harassment of her father all made her single-minded. Just want to leave this family. She said: "I'm really scared to see those family portraits, because everyone in the photo is so happy. Does anyone know what is hidden behind their smiles?"
In a small art salon, Andy saw Edie, who had just arrived in New York. This was the first time they met, and she was wearing a long white pierced sweater with a dark green hairband, and she was so conspicuous in the crowd, as if she had fallen into the world. Andy just stood not far away looking at her intently, couldn't help but sighed to the people around him: "It's so beautiful, oh, she's so beautiful, I want her to make a movie." Soon Edie followed Andy to his "Factory"-a large art studio, some people take pictures, some chat, some are taking drugs, some are working out. This is a group of people that Edie has never seen before, they are decadent, indulgent, idle and cynical. Andy is the host here. He leads the entire studio in creating unconventional works, sometimes shooting low-cost underground movies. This kind of movie doesn't even need any acting skills. As the protagonist, Edie just poses casually to the camera, and then talks to Andy behind the camera. We saw the black-and-white image on the screen: the young Edie has an impeccably beautiful face with a sharp chisel, but his expression is always so lazy. She wore oversized metal earrings, frowned or shrugged while talking, casual and very sincere, and lit a lady's cigarette from time to time. Throughout the film, Yidi has been smoking frequently, regardless of whether he is happy or sad, and the director seems to want to use this to imply the unknown pain in Yidi's heart...
In a very short time, Yidi quickly became a shining star in the factory. She followed Andy to attend various banquet salons and received the media's pursuit and praise. At this moment, Edie in the spotlight is completely different from the obedient girl who is quietly painting in the Cambridge studio. She is wearing exaggerated fur, her slender legs are exposed, her hair is cut short, her eyeliner is black, and she wears heavy and heavy. The jewelry, everything, is as bright as fireworks bursting into the night sky. The light was so dazzling that it concealed the disturbing truth, including Andy’s homosexuality, Edie’s gradually overdrawn bank account, and those lingering childhood scars... The life of singing and dancing ended in Bob Dee The moment Lun appeared, the already-famous handsome man stared into Edie's eyes and said, "Are you happy? This can't deceive anyone"-yes, at that moment, Edie's bright eyes suddenly clouded with haze. I don't know why Edie didn't follow Bob in the end, even though the sunset was so beautiful when they were together. Perhaps in Edie's heart, Andy Warhol was regarded as the lost "father", he led her, and she followed him without hesitation. It's just that the reality is too cruel. Andy first abandoned Edie, and the factory quickly found a new super star. The helpless Edie stared at everything in front of her in shock, and could only turn around and leave. At this time, she was already addicted to drugs.
Someone once commented on Edie Sedgwick: "She is the woman I have ever seen who has collected all the tragedies in her life." At the end of the film, on the cold New York streets, she described the bleak Edie wearing only a short-sleeved single. Cigarette butts were thrown under his feet. There was no more money in the bank account, and my father refused to send her any more money. She was waiting for the family's lawyer, and she exchanged her inner shame for mercy and money. The house I rented before can no longer stay because of arrears of rent. I moved to a shabby apartment and sold jewelry and clothing. She is still taking drugs, lying naked on the bed, her buttocks are covered with bruises after the needle... Such a downy woman has nothing to do with beauty. But we remember so clearly that in the salon where Andy met, it was her light that eclipsed the whole world.
Edie eventually died of a drug overdose, but the fashion trend she led that year has affected it to this day.
That year, she was twenty-eight years old.

I like Sienna Miller's performance, natural and unpretentious. The two male protagonists are also great. I watched this film three times and recommended it to many friends. I always think that some sorrows in the world cannot be done for outsiders, and they are destined in the future. What Edie is remembered along with her beauty is her innocence and kindness. And it was this kind of sincerity that made her misfortune even more sorrowful.

Factory Girl quotes

  • Edie Sedgwick: To me, New York was Jackson Pollock sipping vodka and dripping paint onto a raw canvas.

  • Billy Quinn: How did a nice chick like you get mixed up in the whole acting racket?

Edie Sedgwick: Breakfast at Tiffany's. You know, Audrey with her hair pulled back, and she's smoking through the black cigarette holder.

Billy Quinn: You wanna live in a movie?

Edie Sedgwick: I never saw the movie, just the poster.

Billy Quinn: So you haven't read the book then?

Edie Sedgwick: Well, Audrey isn't in the book.

Billy Quinn: The book is a bit different. It's about a working girl and a writer, an artist. You see, the artist steals the girl's stories and makes a fortune, and the girl doesn't get anything.

Edie Sedgwick: Why do you have such a problem with Andy?

Billy Quinn: Because of what he worships.
