Frank McCourt, where is the angel

He came from poverty, and his family came from poverty, without the hope of becoming rich. The weather is always gloomy, there is no sunshine in Brooklyn, New York, and the rain in Ireland never stops. From one place of poverty to poverty in another place. Father’s job is never to be found, but his wine glass can never be put down. When he is sober, he loves his relatives, but when the pressure of life comes, he only loves his wine glass. So Frank chased his father's back on Christmas Eve, and wanted to say to him: I love your father. But he didn't say it after all, and finally there was no chance. The father never showed up again. So he learned to grow alone and face life alone. His mother told him that he should not be humiliated by anyone, and he worked so hard. He used the money of the bullshit and the money of his own labor. Ten years later, he finally set foot on the same ship and returned to the place where he was born.

The lunar eclipse of the last night has cleared away the haze, and the next day's departure will finally be clear and bright.

Angela's Ashes quotes

  • Narrator: If I were in America I could say "I love you, dad", the way they do in the films. But in Limerick they'd laugh at you. In Limerick you are only allowed to say you love God, and babies, and horses that win. Anything else is softness in the head.

  • Young Frank: Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. It's been a minute since my last confession.
