I love this movie so much that it makes me cry.
I've seen it several times. It's very rare.
Long-lost feeling. Completely conquered.
I have watched more movies. The taste has slowly become picky. I don't like stereotyped entertainment blockbusters, nor do I claim to be limited to niche literary and artistic movies, and I don't trust the so-called evaluations and recommendations casually.
I am always happy to freely and casually search for works that give people a special feeling in the sea of discs. I like the feeling of unexpected encounters and surprises. Although there are surprises from time to time, they are not as strong as "Ben X".
I make no secret of my love for this excellent movie.
I still remember that when I watched this film for the first time, I was a little tired. I saw its cool title from numerous movie posters and clicked on the link.
The video began to unfold slowly. A naked European youth who was playing an online game called "Overlord" came into the field of vision. (The peerless Internet masters are all such trivial virtues, with a face hidden in the general public. He has 80 levels, what is the concept? The mysterious girl who appears from the back of the movie looks at him like a monster, and full of eyes. In the tone of adoration, you can feel "in short, it is very tall") The
movie begins with the protagonist's first-person narration. I don’t know the language of the bird language (Belgium?), and the lines and music of the movie work well together. I know in my heart that the director is doing the early stage narration and overall advancement (so that the audience will look back for the second time). All this seems to imply that I "have a bomb behind" (although I had a hunch, I later realized that I was not mentally prepared).
The first third of the movie is as dull as everyone said. I also don't know why the movie is always switching screens, and all kinds of weird and boring people come out to say some nonsense.
The sound of Ben's mother lazily pouring orange water in the morning makes people feel uncomfortable. She always intervenes in Ben's life and secret inner world rudely. I hate such annoying and boring old women. (I don’t know that the motherhood inspired by this old woman in the later orgasm stage is awe-inspiring, and there is a section on the back of the emotional out of control that is also very brilliant)
When Ben looked in the mirror, I was wondering how the director could find such a young actor with a distinctive face. His appearance of squeezing hand sanitizer, combing his hair, squeezing a smile, etc. is so ridiculous and pitiful.
Ben's psychological world is always in a state of intense self-imagination. His biggest characteristic is autism, low self-esteem, and constant resistance to his own natural psychological defects (I believe that a considerable number of young people have similar psychology, but Ben’s body is enlarged many times). When he is collectively insulted and bullied by his peers, I don't know how to protect myself, I just blindly suppress my emotions. He is so pitiful and helpless, which is in extreme contrast with him in the game world. Life in school is so difficult for him, reminding me that the world of young people is sometimes extremely cruel (many young people have the pleasure of cruelty to small animals and bullying). His study was very good, and he listened to God in the lecture about Jesus' crucifixion, as if he had sympathy with Jesus. His heart is so simple and yearning for beauty. The director arranged for his online dating girlfriend to be a kind and spiritual girl with a sweet smile.
The insults and bullying that we have received are very obvious in the school, and everyone sees it in their eyes. Occasionally a person with a conscience will protect and care for him, but he is so powerless, coupled with his inherent psychological defect of not speaking, so that he cannot protect himself and get help from others. The cruelty of human nature and the shortcomings of the social system are fully exposed.
The director arranged two very extreme plots for Ben.
One is to forcibly take off his pants in front of many male and female classmates in class, and take the video to spread on the Internet (a girl who laughed wildly at Ben while making an "L" gesture above her head was very impressive).
One is two super inhumane bad classmates violently snatching his mobile phone in a secret square, watching the video of his online girlfriend, and using saliva to force him to swallow the psychedelic drug. It caused Ben to have a serious mental hallucination (I saw Ben slowly standing up, and a low growl, which made my heart vibrate. Later, Ben’s facial expressions and actions when I lost control of my emotions in front of my mother moved me again. .)
I think the looks and attire of the mysterious online dating girl are well arranged. In the background of many black tones, let her wear a red casual jacket top, which has a symbolic meaning. There is also a simple student symbol---ponytail. I like to see this couple, this angel-like girl standing with the rigid and nervous Ben. They walked together, the girl kept talking to him with her big eyes open, and he was giggling stupidly while there. I really want to wish them to live together forever.
The whole memorial service was a very carefully planned climax. Every classic line, every character’s camera switching, atmosphere control, soul-like music, timely slow motion, etc., impeccably perfect expression, continues until Ben’s mother can’t control emotions on TV The accusation, at that moment, my tears could no longer contain myself.
Ben's mother and others have never said a word to that girl. There is only a glass of drink on the table, and there is realistic reasoning. I should have thought that she should be illusory.
I hate that the director told me at the end of the movie that the girl's appearance was the result of this schizophrenia. Movies were originally unrealistic and unreal. Will there be music that amplifies the effect of the plot in reality? If you think of this level, the director should dispel this naive idea and restore the film's illusory pursuit of perfection!
The overall style of the movie is very appealing to me. This style should include music selection, lines, scene scheduling, subject matter, etc. The lines and translations of the movie are very impressive.
"What we can do today is to accept the fact that there are some unbearable weights in life."
"Hello everyone, and welcome everyone. Just as they said, I am about to reach the end, I choose Suicide, my relatives, my friends, my struggle is over"
"She called this creative death, suicide without death, death without death, or death without death"
"I have to devote myself, Think ahead of time with your brain, prepare for your heart, your will determines everything, everything is done with the courage to do what you thought you could not do"
"When people see a horse, they always want to ride on the back of a horse, but you can tell me , Which horse wants to be ridden".
There are also some brilliant plots and character arrangements:
The girl with tears at the memorial service. She once watched Ben's insult and tried to care about Ben.
After Ben jumped off the ship's rail, the look when father and son looked at each other.
Ben and his online dating girlfriend have a conversation in the room. I think what she said to Ben was cute and funny, and Ben’s silly laugh.
A psychiatrist who likes to touch his nose.
I like the things and tastes expressed in every frame of film and the smallest details. Just like the light, natural and pure female melody in the song "I COULD BE THE ONE".
The shocking effect of the movie's plot makes me ignore the gap between it and the master's works in some places. It reminds me of "Forrest Gump". But Forrest Gump is positively comedic, but originally tragic.
When I strongly recommended this movie to others, she said to me "Watching a movie is a very subjective thing" (meaning it euphemistically tells me "You like it does not necessarily mean I like it"), I am habitual The ground didn't react much (just to compliment her on her mastery of speaking). But while partially agreeing, I feel that movie appreciation is a process of slowly moving people with the characters and plots. Talking about the deep feelings in your heart is also revealing your own inner privacy information, which is easy to be at a disadvantage in interpersonal communication. But if you share with others with innocence, the emotions between people will be more beautiful. Because of differences in family background, ethnicity, class, education level, natural characteristics, gender, age, blood type, place of origin, and experience, the feelings of observing things are different from person to person. But I believe that the good and the evil in human nature are in common. Otherwise, how could this European movie be more moving than a Chinese movie? So when someone recommends me a movie he likes in his heart, I will not say "Watching a movie is a very subjective thing" I will say "I am looking forward to watching the movie you introduced."
