Edison Chen (hereinafter referred to as Chen): I didn't expect to act in this film, but the director said that I really look like Andy Lau from the side, so he asked me to play "Liu Jianming". I think the script of "Infernal Affairs II" is really good, even better than the first episode. I also want to figure out this role very seriously, because the story of "Infernal Affairs II" is about the period from 1991 to 1997 before the return, so I also want to ask some friends about the situation during that period.
Question: In "Infernal Affairs II", your character has a crush on Carina Lau and even forced her to kiss her. Did the scene go well?
Chen: It's okay. I met Sister Jialing very early, so it didn't matter much to shoot, but because of the lens design, I had to shoot many times.
Question: The cast of "Infernal Affairs II" is rare. Huang Qiusheng, Wu Zhenyu, and Zeng Zhiwei are all famous actors and actresses. How do you feel about cooperating with these famous predecessors?
Chen: Huang Qiusheng is like a teacher. You can learn a lot by acting with him. He is also willing to discuss with others. Zeng Zhiwei is always joking, "hahaha" as soon as I meet. I knew him when I was 16 years old, so I knew each other very well. Wu Zhenyu's appearance is more scary, his eyes and appearance when acting is a bit scary. However, in "Infernal Affairs II", he and I have no direct rivalry, just stand far away in one scene.
Question: "Infernal Affairs I" has set a rare box office in Hong Kong in recent years. Is it a kind of pressure for "Infernal Affairs II"? What do you think of the film’s box office prospects?
Chen: "Infernal Affairs I" has a box office of more than 53 million, but as long as this one can earn 28 million, I will be very happy. After all, Andy Lau and Tony Leung didn't hold the line.
Question: The seniors in the film are all movie kings, and you are also known as the successor of the king, so have you ever thought about when you will win the award?
Chen: I didn't insist on winning. If you hear seniors or friends complimenting me for improving my acting skills during filming, it will be more enjoyable than winning.
Question: Many artists in Hong Kong are all developing on several fronts in music, film, and television. You not only make movies but also record records. So where do you focus on your work?
Chen: I don't have any requirements for making movies. I want to make any kind of film. I like the feeling of making movies. From the director, the actors and the staff, everyone is together in a family atmosphere, and it’s a good mood to go to work every day. I don’t like Hong Kong’s pop music reporters. The questions they ask are very boring. Moreover, Hong Kong’s business environment does not allow me to express the music I really like.
Q: This time "Infernal Affairs I" was released in Japan. Have you considered the development of the entertainment industry in Japan?
Chen: Of course I thought about it. I really hope to cooperate with the Japanese show business. However, one of the disadvantages of that is that once you are noticed, you can't just go shopping on the street.
