What can I say about "Miss Pettigrew lives for a day", it was...a lovely movie. I was smiling most of the time while watching the movie, and it gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling afterwards.
The entire movie spans in a day's time. Miss Guinevere Pettigrew(Frances McDormand from Fargo) just lost another job, and was homeless and penniless. She stole a business card from an employment agency, and suddenly she has become a "social secretary" of a beautiful actress Delysia Lafosse(Amy Adams from Enchanted), who's juggling three men at the same time. One is rich club owner Nick, who owns the flat Delysia is living in. One is the producer's son Phil, who can give Delysia the starring role in a play that she always wanted. Last but not least is Michael, the piano player who truly loves Delysia for who she is.
This is a love story for both Miss Pettigrew and Delysia. Miss Pettigrew helped Delysia realized what she really needed in her life, and also found love for herself on the way. The story was fast paced yet sweet, the music was upbeat, the actors were all superb. Although this is not the most touching love story that you'll ever watch, it's an excellent choice as a late night movie as you curl up on your couch after a hot summer lazy day.
