This is a movie related to the name. An Indian couple Asoke and Asima came to the distant and unfamiliar United States to earn a living immediately after their wedding. Husband Asoko named his son Gogol born in the United States after his favorite author.

When Gogol grew up, he loathed his weird name because of the ridicule of his classmates. He even changed the name himself. Before he got married, his father told the story behind his name.

When Asoke was still studying in India, he traveled by train once. An old man sitting across from him said to him that he could not forget: "You should pack your luggage and see the world so that you will have no regrets in your life." This sentence and the subsequent train derailment accident Deeply affected and changed the life of young Akoso. Because of the trembling pages of Asoko's hand, he was discovered and rescued from the wreckage of the train.

Gogol's book gave Akoso a new life. He regarded his life thereafter as an extra gift, which he cherished very much, including his newly married wife, a new life in the United States, and two children born afterwards.

As life became happier and happy, Asoke suddenly passed away due to illness, causing great grief to his family. His wife Ashima finally overcame her pain and returned to India, which she had missed for so long. The son changed his name back again and walked out of the shadow of the broken marriage.

This is not only a story about a name, but also a story about family, marriage, love, growth, death and cultural conflicts. It includes the experiences and problems that everyone may encounter at all stages of life. This is a story about cherishing life and pursuing happiness. As Joseph Campbell said: "When you follow your blessings... the door will be opened for you where you thought there would be no door, and this door is only for you."
