Thoughts on Watching "Wolf Walker"

In the evening in the dormitory of one person, while eating oden and playing sound outside comfortably, I finished watching "Wolfwalker".

Just now, I rushed out, threw a piece of trash, took a courier, and ran back to write a review, maybe because... I haven't seen such a great HD ending movie for a while.

Good movies always give me great power, and it is the same today.

As early as the first two years, after watching "Song of the Sea" and "The Secret of Kell" together, I learned from the Internet that the "Irish Trilogy" and "Wolfwalker" will be released soon.

When I was preparing to eat in the evening, Zhengshou didn't know what to watch, so I clicked on "Wolfwalker". After reading it happily, a long-lost sense of happiness came to my heart.

It’s been too long, and it’s been a long time since there have been such fantastic fairy tales in my life.

I believe that many friends who have watched the movie are like me. They especially like the scene of Robin running into the jungle at night with Miba and the wolves after he becomes a wolf. When I saw this paragraph, I was so pleasantly surprised that I called it out directly, because I especially liked the song by the musician AURORA who sang the background music "running with the wolves"! And this song I used to particularly like, and even cycled many times, but today I heard it accidentally in a favorite movie. I don't know how many people are like me.

I have read this paragraph twice. I really like the feeling of freedom, leaving everything behind, being extremely close to nature, and being able to fly.

After the excitement, let's take a look at the story told by the movie.

In the middle of watching, I once felt the wonderful CP feeling of Miba and Robin, a soul of wild freedom, a soul yearning for freedom, maybe they will eventually become a family or even sisters, it is indeed destined.

There are also some wonderful commonalities in the "Irish Trilogy" that I feel.

First, the protagonists are all teenagers or even a few years old.

This may not be difficult to explain, because fairy tales actually belong to children's world. They are ignorant and never know the whole picture of this world, and they have not become insensitive, but kind and brave, full of love in their hearts, and yearning for freedom and warmth. Only by possessing these qualities can you be qualified to be the protagonist of fairy tales—for example, the power of belief? It is difficult for adults to believe in fairy tales, and they generally fear authority and become numb (such as Robin's father Mr. Goodwell in this film).

Second, the parents of the protagonists lack the shadow of their mothers, and their fathers are strong and insensitive fathers who love their children affectionately.

I don't know if the director made such an arrangement accidentally or intentionally, or whether it was a personal preference.

But without exception, the protagonists will always escape the "safety protection" of their father and embark on a wonderful adventure.

And the "danger" in the fathers' mouths doesn't seem to be considered dangerous.

There never seems to be pure evil in the "Irish Trilogy". The so-called "villain" in "The Secret of the Kell" is actually just an elderly mother who has lost her beloved son. There is no such thing in "Song of the Sea". In "Wolfwalker", the protector of the country is a man in power who wants to maintain his rule by unscrupulous means and strengthen his beliefs (in some respects, he is a very active idealist with firm ideals and beliefs).

Third, the three movies are very close to nature.

The sea, the forest, or the forest.

What can be pointed out in particular is "Wolfwalker", which obviously criticized human beings' deforestation and killing wild animals at will. Moreover, the film is released in 2020, and it is even very close to the theme of the era that constantly promotes the protection of nature (opening the pattern?).

The other thing I want to say is that this animation team from Ireland is really excellent. I will always love the forests they painted. It's so beautiful.

Let me talk about the things that surprise or care about in "Wolfwalker" separately.

-An ethnic group led by motherhood.

The highest leader of the wolves is Miba's mother, Moore. The wolves led by her guard their forests peacefully, and it can be seen from the dialogue between Miba and Robin that this is a maternally loving woman with a strong empathy and bottom line. She taught Miba not to bite people at will, not to invade human territory, and even if a human invades their forest, it is only to intimidate humans, not to attack.

This is probably not something ordinary people can do.

——The father who has always been insensitive, only when he saw that his daughter's life was seriously threatened, did he regain his aura.

Bill is the only character in the film that drives me crazy many times. For nothing else, just because he has been unwilling to listen to his daughter's urgent voice, and like other adults, he has lost his fear and respect for life, and is powerlessly crazy.

Parental authority is one of the heaviest shackles. The last time he saw him holding Robin to prevent her from following the wolves, this anger reached its peak. Even at the last moment, he still didn’t know how to fight for his daughter. Can't wake up the conscience and blood in the bottom of my heart.

But later he also became a wolfwalker and had the opportunity to leave that painful small town with his daughter, which was a very good ending.

——Exquisite, distinctive, talking-like painting style.

This is hard to describe in words. I believe you will understand when you look at the contrast between the small town packed with neat rows of spire houses and the open forest full of lush green trees.

——It is not difficult to find in the film, the resistance to patriarchy.

Bill, Robin's father, has been preventing her from hunting with him, and has been pushing her into the castle to make her a maid.

And what are most of those maids like? He looks old and repeats the same work day after day, slowly growing up, maturing, and getting old in this small world. Become depressed, gloomy, quiet, obedient, and obedient.

Does it look like many oppressed women in the past?

Robin ran into the forest against his father’s orders, and even bravely tried to save Miba’s mother, challenging the patriarchy again and again and failing again and again, and finally she lost her black burqa (the action here is for others) It feels very meaningful), he stood in front of the big cage where Moore was closed, and said no to his father loudly.

But before giving the father any time to react, Moore's love for children and Robin's bravery finally defeated the oppression of patriarchy and authority, broke through numerous obstacles, and let Miba who lost his reason calmed down.

——Wolves, unity is strength.

After seeing the wolves gather together, under the guidance of Miba and Robin, the clip of Moore was successfully rescued, which moved me a lot.

Whenever human beings can unite together as kindly as they are, it will be fine.

-Losing fear and respect for life is a terrible thing.

In the film, Robin first sang the "Song of Killing the Wolf", which made me shudder a little bit.

Are wolves really that damn and evil? Do you want to start killing wolves from a young age? This is not the case.

Human beings preach how terrible and damn wolves are because of their desires, possible benefits, and the preaching of those in power.

ridiculous. Hateful again.

In fact, our civilization has developed little by little in this way.

Thinking about it this way, I wonder if the forests where Robin and Miba live in the future will be admired by humans again, and then there will be a new round of expulsion and destruction...

All in all, this is indeed a movie worth watching. The "Irish Trilogy" is also worth watching, and adults can also see fairy tales.

And I will always like this director and look forward to his future works!
