6.5 Lady Susan's interpretation is not good. I have a headache for her lines. Her charm and understanding of men play and applaud them. Mr. Meringworth and Jazz have different personalities, so she has different strategies and detours.
Her concubine, Mrs. Catherine, should be a determined mother and a worried elder sister. She cared for her parents, cared for her niece, and took care of the family. Because of her “famous reputation”, Mrs. Susan always reminded her younger brother. And this one in the movie is not like a woman raising a few children in image and temperament, but like a delicate lady...
In the original work, her parents did not rush to him after receiving the first letter. Later, the Jazz who wanted to rush home because she learned that ladySusan was not treating her daughter so well was because of the long winter, and the parents urged him in the letter. Going home to accompany, but lady Susan...well, he put off again and again to make this young man want to talk to her more.
The beginning of the story should be with Lady Susan leaving from Mellingworth's home to Churchill. Mellingworth is a machismo boy, this is not reflected much.
Originally, "Lady Susan" was just 19-year-old Jane Austen's game work. The small and fluent letter-style novels can't help reading. Originally, this work did not have any profound meaning or huge background, and the relationship between several characters and the direction of the story can be seen at a glance. But this work is very cute, especially it portrays such a lovely image of Mrs. Susan. She seems to be a slutty and unruly woman who doesn't care enough about her children or cares enough. She has that kind of self-esteem and arrogance by nature. She is glamorous and cunning enough to deal with men of different personalities. She doesn't have to cater to them, but occasionally condescends out of considerations of reputation or responsibility to each other. In this film, Lady Susan did not portray these well.
This film is like a barely qualified fan work. Not so good, not so bad.
