Why UN Looks Powerless?

One of the best questions raised when or after watching the movie is: why were those UN blue helmets looked so powerless?

Audiences must know that the blue helmets are not United Nations Forces, but Peacekeepers. There were only two experiences when UN formed forces to fight wars, Korea 1950 and Kuwait 1991. It means that UN is fighting against an enemy as a declared party of the conflict.

But UN peacekeeping mission is different. In such a mission, UN peacekeepers are not a party of the conflict, but a barrier segregating between the parties in conflict or between military power and endangered civilians. One of the top priorities and core rule of engagement is that the UN peacekeepers shall not become a party of the conflict fighting against a particular enemy. The peacekeepers face no enemy until a particular individual firing at them and technically the group which the individual belongs to is still not the enemy even by then.

The UN peacekeepers are under command of the United Nations who always being stuck in complicated procedure of authorization. That's why the real problem solvers are superpowers, regional organizations and even former colonists. In the new century, the UN tried to change itself a little by authorizing two military interventions, Lybia and Coast Ivory, but the process of reform was cut and stopped by Syria. Where will the UN especially its declared function of protecting civilians go in future? Maybe we need more time and efforts than a good movie.

To deconstruct the conflict in this war from the perspective of a UN employee, the fate of the displaced people behind the war is also tragic compared to the bloody confrontation on the battlefield. Being a mother, knowing a little bit of the cruel situation, and watching her family embark on a desperate path, how heart-piercing the pain is. In the last shot, the children outside the theater are still playing football, and the sound of gunshots from the theater is endless. The huge contrast between the stillness and the movement of the whole picture makes people choking silently.

The female perspective in the context of the 8/10 war is narrated from the purest protection of the family in the primitive emotions. The camera is aimed at Ida for two-thirds of the time, which is completely close to the anxiety and anxiety of the characters, and it also makes people moments. In a state of tension and anxiety, it seems that the breathing and heartbeat of the person in the film can be heard at a certain moment. There is basically no waste in the whole film, and the atmosphere shaping and rhythm control are appropriate and appropriate. The blue caps and helmets of the UN peacekeeping forces were robbed at will, as if at the mercy of others; the words and deeds of the Serb generals, like show, fully demonstrated the hypocrisy and terrifying of certain political ecology. Holding his head in both hands, shooting with a machine gun, background sound, empty head, despair and sorrow. Since then, every scene has been sublimated in a roundabout way, the scene of recognizing the bones, and the camera watching with cold eyes, it is the ultimate grief. The ending "Enjoyment" is a call for peace and it is also the ultimate irony.
